Hi not sure if i should be posting this here.
My friends yaris 1.5 tsport has recently started to knock under low revs because he let the oil get too low. Im guessing this is the bottom end that has broken? Does anyone have any idea of how much it would cost to fix roughly?
Thanks

well i think munday sold it to my friend because someone had crashed into him and he couldnt afford to have it fixed up so then my friend fixed it sold it to me and then i went onto crash it and now i have some of the parts off it on this one, long story haha!
62,000 miles!

Only mod it had was a Recaro Bucket!?
I had few parts left over from my first starlet which i had fitted to my new glanza at the import centre, spec list:
Taken off my first starlet:
Tein Super Street Coilovers
Wrc IMPUL Wheels
Prada Spec 2 tyres
HKS Hi Power Exhaust
Gutted Cat
Magnecor Competition Igntion Leads
With all the bits fitted and a quick wash

Lost the rear window sticker, wasn't too keen on it!
I then went on to strip the back out and fitted my Cusco 5 point rear half cage, Cusco C-pillar bar and Cusco front and rear strut.

I sprayed a couple of bits on the engine bay to add a bit of colour and added the few blue pipes i own!

ok just got the caliper off and when the brake pedal was pushed the caliper doesnt move but i can easily move it by hand...? does this mean the piston has broken?
-
Thank you for everyones help, i will go give it a try now!
-
How did you fix the sheared bolt?
The rust will be thick scale, I scrape it off with a chisel normally (or blast them, protecting the threads and sliders ).
Only half the threads were missing so i used a helicoil kit to rethread inside of the caliper then used a slightly bigger bolt, worked perfect!
-
Are all the bolts tight, and not sheared? Ie could the caliper be moving?
I had a guy turn up for me to look at upgrading his brakes and one of the front carriers had a stripped bolt!
Other than that the classic one is sticky sliders, and rust buildup under the pad retaining clips.
Well one of my bolts had sheared the thread off but i fixed that problem so it was kinda lucky my brakes did jam. Could it be a good idea to check for rust and wire brush it if there is?
-
probably a corroded piston, i had the same problem on the same side lol
Will i be needing a new caliper?
-
Driving home last night and a deer ran out in front of me so i hit the brakes fairly hard and from then on the front left caliper has been getting stuck on.
I have taken the caliper off and looked at the pads and that but im no mechanic so couldnt work out the problem.
Any ideas????

First glanza i bought on 81k and in two months i put it up to 88k, the excitement of having boost i couldnt stop driving!
My glanza now i bought on 61k and only put about 1500 on it so not too bad, i managing to hold off a bit
-
Just plumbed in my boost gauge but want to wire up the light.
whats the best way to do it, on my old car is was wired into my lights so when i switched them on it was turned on or i have been told to wire it onto the ignition cable?? im useless at electircs so dont know what wire to be looking for.. are they an obvious colour?
Whats best or if anyone has better ideas....
-
haha same here, thanks for your help anywyay dude
-
Well theres that checked of the list then lol... Maybe it isn't wired up correctly to the speaker?
i did think maybe the wiring wasn't right somewhere but then why would it beep and flash?? i wondered if i should have the sensors on the a pillars? maybe they have been taken off for some reason and thats why it doesnt trigger it off.
-
Have you got an actual speaker in the engine for the alarm? I can't think of the work
yeah i even got my friend to check that it was the speaker thing in the engine that beeped and it is.
-
Still no luck with it! If i set it too the max i can get out of the car and gently touch the car and the box will flash knowing im close but still no alarm! it even beats when its swtched on so i know its makes a noise..
-
ok i dont need the car running when i turn it on or anything like that do i? i will go try now
thanks
-
Maybe it isnt setup right because i have switched it on and then locked the car and rocked it from side to side but nothing... it will probly go off one day and suprise me!
-
Alright guys. I have this black box with flashy lights on it it, which then leads into a larger black box behind dash then up to another box on top of my dash. I has loads of on/off switches and lights but no idea what is does??
Also says something about shock sensor?
Im guessing its like an engine immobilizer..
Any ideas? or even how it works...
