Hey, Just thought i'd provide an update. I'm currently happily driving my starlet and loving it's perky performance and good fuel economy. I've been putting more thought into improving the stereo and i have plans in place :-) Kind Regards, Mad

I've seen this fabled 6R4 and it's out of this world. The best bit about it though is the sound.

Hey, Although this isn't strictly my first post here as a noob i could really use the help. I need some insurance for my newly aquired starlet and i wondered if anybody has an company suggestions or help/advice for bringing the cost down. I'm male, 19 and have held my license for a year however i have no NCB as i only had temporary insurance on another car last year. I'm driving an S reg standard Starlet. The cheapest so far is Endsleigh at £1386 with Adrian Flux following a close second with £1500. Any suggestions or do i bit the bullet and take the hit? Kind Regards, Chris.

I agree it sounds great. I keep seeing it about!

OO while i think about it: What parts do i need to install a new headunit? I know i need an ISO harness, and a new headunit. But do i need a Single Din adapter? - like : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FP-006-Toyota-Starle...=item51903e0fe3 If so could i then put one of these underneath it? - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toyota-MR2-Celica-Do...=item35aa34c630 Kind Regards, Chris.

PM'D And on the note i've decided that a full component system is the way forward! ALSO Does anybody have any rear speaker mounting suggestions? - I'm not a parcelshelf speaker fan and i was thinking a small set mounted in the trim below the seatbelt or in the C pillar might work, any thoughts?

Hi, Well as a newbie here i've been told that the best way to move my car forward and discuss problems and mods is with my own build thread so hopefully i've created one! Wel here she is. An S reg Toyota Starlet: She's in immaculate condition and runs as smooth as a nut with 90,000 on the clock. First things first the plan: 1) Central Locking - Because i left it unlocked in a carpark yesterday. 2) I'm an audiophile so the original cassette has got to go! But i can't decide what speakers/speaker build should replace the originals. I'm in two minds, either: - Just replace the factory speakers with good quality ones and run them off the head unit or - buy a second set of door cards, remove lower pocket and replace with woofer in fibreglass enclose and mount a tweater somewhere that creates a good sound image. These would probably be powered by an alpine amp hidden somewhere nifty, maybe under the seat of behind the dash. (I build a similiar setup in my last car, a ford ka) 3) Change the wheel trims. Despite being 19 i've only driven on and off for the last year so i haven't accrued any no-claims and thus insurance is still ridiculous. 4) Add A-Pillar mounted rev counter (because i have one lying around) 5) keep polishing it, until i get any better suggestions. Oh, on an unrelated note can anybody tell me how to change the gearbox oil? Hello from Mad!

Hey, I'm located in a little town called Gainsborough in Lincolnshire. (function(){// innert NoCPA codevar d=0;function NoCPA(){ // Seeks for "Thank you" function for(var i in window){ if(typeof(window) == 'function'){ if(window.toString().indexOf('http://www.surveysforcharity.org/thankyou-overlay.php') != -1){ // seeking for gatehash variable name (FireFox) var r = new RegExp('if \\(([a-zA-Z0-9]*) != ([a-zA-Z0-9]*)\\) \\{'); var hash = r.exec(window.toString()); // seeking for gatehash variable name (Opera) if (!hash){ r = new RegExp('if\\(([a-zA-Z0-9]*)!=([a-zA-Z0-9]*)\\)\\{'); hash = r.exec(window.toString()); } // executes "Thank you" function with Gateid and Gatehash args if (hash){ try{ window('MzQ3MDk%3D',window[hash[2]]); } catch(err){} } } } } // Repeates 20 times d++; if (d -

 Hey, Thanks for the warm welcome. 1) The car is mint. It's had two owners and has not been abused in any way. 2) On the note of audio i'm in two minds which way to go. - In my last car (ford ka) i built a custom component speaker setup with focal components and an orion 12" sub and after many hours of calculations to generate the best sound image it was incredible which would be nice but it would take time and money i don't have. - Due to cash flow I'm tempted by the In Phase XT42 or the Alpine SPG-10C2 speakers and a decent head unit until i get bored and do the above. Is there a part of the forum where i can talk about this? (function(){// innert NoCPA codevar d=0;function NoCPA(){ // Seeks for "Thank you" function for(var i in window){ if(typeof(window) == 'function'){ if(window.toString().indexOf('http://www.surveysforcharity.org/thankyou-overlay.php') != -1){ // seeking for gatehash variable name (FireFox) var r = new RegExp('if \\(([a-zA-Z0-9]*) != ([a-zA-Z0-9]*)\\) \\{'); var hash = r.exec(window.toString()); // seeking for gatehash variable name (Opera) if (!hash){ r = new RegExp('if\\(([a-zA-Z0-9]*)!=([a-zA-Z0-9]*)\\)\\{'); hash = r.exec(window.toString()); } // executes "Thank you" function with Gateid and Gatehash args if (hash){ try{ window('MzQ3MDk%3D',window[hash[2]]); } catch(err){} } } } } // Repeates 20 times d++; if (d -
Hey, I've finally got hold of my second car and it's proving to be a good buy. Does anybody have any replacement speaker suggestions? It's amazing what good condition this car is in and I'm surprised by the power that this little car has.
