Hey just a few quick questions bout cylinder heads;

  1. What size is a standard head gasket and what +/- are there for thicker/thinner ones
  2. How hard/complicated is it to port and polish the head yourself
  3. do uprated cam springs help anything?

Thanks

ok first of all i am no starlet guru at all i dont even own one, but here goes

1. 1mm is standard, i think TRD do a 0.6mm,Zep racing do 1.2 and 2.0mm, and cruise do 1.2mm 1.4mm 1.6mm 1.8mm 2.0mm 2.2mm 2.4mm 2.6mm

head gaskets found here: http://www.toytuning.com/onlineshop/engineinternals

a thinner hg give a higher compression ratio, better for n/a powerd. A thicker hg gives lower comp ratio and better for forced induction (i.e turbo/ super charger)

2. i have no idea, but i dont think you should be able to go to wrong. I'd pay my local tuners because he done a more than exelent job of my dads car, (made alot more torque than i should have been :()

3.uprated cam springs allow you to rev higher without your cams " bouncing",

see my thead here: http://www.ukstarletclub.com/forums/index....showtopic=11624

thanks, if someone with more understanding of starlets could correct me on anything, please do...
