*greg*
I have recently started hearing a knocking noise coming from the drivers side wishbone area of my 1996 ep91. I can feel it through my pedals and only happens over small bumps in the road. It is a dull metal on metal noise. I have checked wishbones ,drop links, roll bars suspension. Possibly drive shafts wearing??? Please help
StarletRick
more than likely your CV joint matey. it cound however be your shock absorber. press on the wings. is it bouncier than the other side?
*greg*
they are trd coilovers so they are fine checked them , when i push down on the wings the noise is not there and it dont sound like a knocking cv joint the gaiters are fine as well. ????
StarletRick
just because the gaiters are fine doenst mean the CV is. CVs make a knocking/clicking noise. Bearings make a whurring noise. jack the car up and see if the wheel wiggles.
*greg*
they are not clicking when turning and they dont wiggle everything seems to be solid, slight play in shafts though is that normal or could the splines or hub be worn?
StarletRick
driveshanfts have to have some movement in to compensate for the engine rocking back and forth. its either your suspension, or your CV. its impossible to tell though without hearing. take it to a garage if youre not sure. *greg*
right stripped everything off the front end this morning to try and find the problem or what was causing the knocking noise , the only thing i found was that my coilovers sounded like they were topping out after compressing. Is this a common problem and is there a way to fix it?? They are TRD fully adjustable coilovers.
