Just a quick q as i'm unsure.

I bought an external wastegate a while back as it is a second hand unit i want to check its operating properly (i'm sure it is fine just to be sure) before i put it in the car does anyone know how i can test it to see that it is working fine?

Hi Colin,

To look with the eye, make sure that the diaphragm or housing arent cracked. The best way to test if it opens ok and what pressure it opens at would be to do the following:

Put a compressor with a pressure guage or a standard air pump with guage into the wastegate hole at the bottom of the wastegate. Then apply some pressure from the pump into the wastegate and keep an eye on the guage on the pump/compressor.

When the Wastegate is full open you can read the gauge and you know that the wastegate works and when the wastegate will open.
