Asad
Which exhaust manifold would be best??? Read about 4-2-1 being good for low down-mid range whereas a 4-1 loses power lower down but has top end benefits....is this car/spec specific?? as the 1st 4E-FE had a 4-2-1 manifoldalso is it good to wrap the exhaust? after searching around if not done properly or a certain part is left exposed it can develop hotspots and lead to a fire Mods:K+N panel + cold air feedcorolla mani7AFE TB
Guest Enzo
its a general rule dude, 4-1 4-2-1 that is.im gona port the standard mani to start with, my research has led me to believe that its as affective as aftermarket extractors. just smoothing the join. as thats the only restrictive part. when the funds allow i might go custom 4-1 but this will be at the same time as some extreeem port work on the head. Glanza_cl
tbh you probably wouldn't notice much between then, you stated what the differences are but on such a small litre car i don't think it would matter a great deal.if you are thinking of getting uprated cams, valve springs, and some mean head work and are going to increase the rev limit perhaps go with a 4-1.most would stick to 4-2-1. but i don't think there is that much in it personally.heat wrap wise along as the surface you are wrapping is totally clean of dirt, dust etc you shouldn't have problems. the stories you hear are from people that just slap it on with out any care or preparation.... then you might run in to difficulties with heat spots.
