got a shot of my rotary hand tool... so i thought about puting it to sum good use and porting my turbo :(..

has nyone any tips?

best way to go about it?

best size to go to?

Port it as close to the wastegate flap edge as you can get it. If you go to halfords you can get a set of grinding stone which are the perfect size for the job.

No specific tips, just use common sense with tools etc.

has anyone done that without taking the turbo off the engine? i have my engine out right now, and was thinking about sticking a wet rag in the turbine, port the wastegate and then pull out the rag, dragging any dust out... a vacuum cleaner would be handy too...

Interesting thread,I have my replacement turbo sat in my cupboard and was wondering what benefit this makes to performance?

Posted

it doesnt benefit performance per say it just helps to prevent boost creep, allows the excess boost to flow out easier as the ct9 wastegates like trying to shit through the eye of a needle for the turbo when u install breathing mods, ide recomend making sure theres still enough of a lip for the wastegate flap to seal properly, or ure gonna lose boost, and mark it out with a pen so u know for sure uve not grinded away too much
