when you are driving, you need to press the brake pedal to change into certain gears, right. That is an alternative so you don't have to press the brake pedal but ign must be on.

thats what i found out it does. don't know the actuall purpose lol

indeed, its when the ignition is on you hold that button and you can select threw the gears just so you dont really need to start the engine up. comes in handy at the odd times.
