Tell us what you are doing at the moment and we'll tell u if your doing it wrong or not?

I had trouble for months getting mine back up.

If you are linking your avatar from say imageshack or photobucket, when u copy the url, make sure the %7Boption%7D on each side is taken away, otherwise it definitely wont show.

Also it shouldnt matter greatly what resolution your pic is at, because the function automatically reduces it to a suitable size.

Oops i must be talking of the TGGT website then, that b*stard doesnt let you use most pics as an Avatar, says file resolution too big

Yea mate, on tgtt you have to resize them properly by hand, there is no resize option!

Bit tricky, but you can even do it with something primitive like ms paint and check the file resolution after, but it will prob downgrade the pic quality. Thats if you dont have photoshop or similar of course.
