chriswoodfto
really pissed off after that call. moving out in 4weeks so rang em to check if they owe me any money etc... because when we moved in they said 'pay 50 a month and thatll be about right' so i said ill pay you 70 quid just to be sure and that way ill get money back rather than have to pay you...just rang them with the reading and they reckon we now OWE THEM 691 quid. i asked how and they said 'well you wernt paying enough in the first place'. fuckin arseholes, if id of used there initial quote wed be even worse off. 691quid meens we were payin almost half what we needed to in monthly instalments, good job i said 70 quid or wed be really fucked. i dont know how theyve got to that though because we havnt even had the heating on for the last 4months, not at all thru day or night and i make sure every plug socket is off when its not in use... there must be no electric running for at least 8-10hours a day and when we are using it its the thing were using and that only, by that i meen just the tv on, and off at the wall straight away when were not watching etc.dont suppose anyone will have any advice for me because they must have cockd sumit up surely? james@cjperformance
cheers, i wont be using them again, weve paid 700quid already over this past year so i cant understand how they reckon we still owe em another 700quid.The mrs(who works for an energy supplier)says:'Have you been getting quarterly statements? I'd go through those and check the readings on them and check the balance of your account, it is possible that if your payments haven't been covering what you've been using that you could have built that much debt over the year(average spend for gas and electric now is around £1000-£1200 a year) this should show a gradual increase in the debit ammount. Also check whether its the gas or the electric that's in debit as it's possible that a faulty boiler/electrical device could cause an increase in usage. How long have you lived there? If it is just for the last year it's possible that your move in reading was wrong and you've been billed for too much. Did you take a reading when you moved in? If your renting your estate agent should have copies of the move in readings. If it is a correct bill you don't have to pay it in one go, they will spread it over up to 12 months for you. If you need any more help let me know'
