Dilemna - exhaust i sold

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I sold an exhaust (backbox) about a month ago and got a text from the buyer last weekend to say its broken. Baffles or somesort. I know for a fact it was working 100% when it came off my car and im not satisfied hes trying to get a full refund off me now.

I have offered a part refund on my behalf just incase courier broke it(ok i didnt wrap it up properly but you never know they could of dropped it). But we cant prove this.

I have sold a few things now on here with no problems and im not on here to rip/scam people.

what are people thoughts ?

Tbh thats the thing with second hand exhaust you never know how long they will last so no-ones to blame really......the buyer opted for a second hand system thats his problem you sold it 100% working and it did so.

OR

Hes seen something better/some other excuse and is trying to get his coin back

Just to show no hard feelings id pay 1/3 of what it was sold for because its not your fault

i had a guy do this to me on a mani, said it had a huge crack in it, yet same as your sale this was a month after i sold it, i did offer to give him 20quid(he bought it off me for 60quid) , but he wasnt havin it so in the end gave him nothing as he had it for a month so it could easily of happened on his car, and i knew it wasnt cracked when i took it off the car

Similar same sort of thing but happening to me, i bought a set of wing mirros and they have arrived today and before i have even opened them i can see that one of the baseplates is snapped, ive taken plenty of pictures of the wing mirror in its packaging, very poorly packed with a caroner of the baseplate snapped, ive been in touch with the seller and sent him plenty of pictures to show the damage, should i be gettin a refund or at least half as one of the two wing mirrors are not goin on my car :D

A couple of years ago I was in a similar situation. The exhaust looked perfectly fine to me on the car, but the buyer had it inspected and the baffles were actually gone, so I refunded his money and told him he could keep the backbox. :D

yes, i wouldnt give him anything like other people have said he has now had this for a month, i could understand maybe the first week or something but 4 weeks is taking the micky especially as it is second hand and like said he chose to buy second hand if he wanted a warranty he should of bought new.
