siren676
I was talking to a cams specialist near home and they have a 4efte head which has had alot of work done to it, which has been sitting round for the last 3 years.I am planning on getting it and fitting it to my last gen 4efe. They only want $1000nzd (~£480) for it.The specs are as follows-Head is ported -pressure tested-hardness tested -has new valve seals-seats cut-valves cut-surface ground-re-profiled 272 cams-valve clearances done-new springs Will this work on the standard ecu until i can afford an aftermarket one? What sort of gains could i expect?
Asad
defo worth every penny that, give them £450 or even £400rebuild the bottom end (optional but gives you piece of mind) and away you go i cant see the standard ECU not coping but mangement should be on the cardsas for gains who knows? ~130 at a guess
Idrees
Yeah I think it would be fine and it would work, but you'd see best gains only after a remap.130bhp is VERY optimistic though imo. Stock FE is 74bhp so we're talking a ~56 bhp gain - that is very unlikely!
siren676
They were doing it on special for 480 to get rid of it, cant see them going any lowerDo you think it would be a good idea to put it on another engine? since mines done 236,000k's and im not sure how much life is left in itIs you estimate at the fly or at the wheels? Asad
iddy come on!! with just bolt on`s 90-95 is achievable thats 18-23bhp right there, now were talking more air in + fuel ok the low down drivebility might be abit shite but theres defo alot of gains to be hadId go for it...rebuild the bottom end, run it in with the standard ECU.....mabe get a FPR + SAFCII for now then mabe better management if you dont take it get me a shipping cost lol
siren676
So it might have a bit bad fuel economy untill the aftermartet ecu.Seeing as mine is only doing 72hp atw it should have a noticeable gain. 2nd gear skids at drags (hopefully)Ill get the setup once my bank account has recovered from getting the facelift glanza bumper from idrees. What is involved in rebuilding the bottom end? I live within 5k's of an engine rebuilders so i may get a quote from him.At this point i think i will have a go at getting as much power out of a 4efe as possible without forced induction or laughing gas (nitrous)Cheers, Daniel
ryan lang
ask them how much they'd charge to do your bottom end dude?

siren676
Haha i forgot about this. After my engine swap i may look into doing this onto the 5efhe
