have you been to see it? i didnt like the whole bit about the airbag going off as he hit his head on it because the car infront braked to hard ^_^ for the price he said i could have it for it was a bargain though, id of made my money back by selling the engine and wheels if id broke it.

Replied.. Can any one help me by telling me what a pop plug is as was ment to buy this car two weeks ago but it started leaking water so boy booked it in to garage to get fixed they said water was coming from pop plug

Would this be right??

core plug? they can pop out as a safety feature to prevent the block cracking if theres no antifreeze inside it just plain water when the temp outside drops

thats a good call, and if thats the case it aint a good thing as other things could have been damaged and on the brink of breaking. ice is not an engines friend!

cars like this which raise eyebrows need to be looked at by a couple of lads who know there way round a ep so as not to miss anything.....that way atleast one person will notice something if anything

What will a look out for

for a start make sure the car is cold when you get there so you can start it from cold and check for smoke or noises, when things first start to make noise or smoke they generally stop when the car is warm i.e engine or turbo. defo have a good look for crash damage as i carnt get my head around the airbag going off as his head hit it and a good test drive. but more sets of brains and eyes are better than 1!

brakes/alloys/exterior/ice/suspension is a simple visual thing take a print out of the stuff and check it off...any extras and keep hush anything missing point it out

Transmission

- jack it up and spin the wheels cant remember what happens whn youve got a LSD but its been mentioned

- Youve had a EP? youll notice the gear shift and the TRD usually comes with a leather knob

-ask someone what the clutch is like and see if you can notice it compare with your own experience

engine

-the walbro pump is loud apparantly, listen out for it

- check the boost gauge when you drive it does it register 1.1?

- look at the ecu

- the bee*r is a devil thing this would put me off straight away...........

- get the sump cover off (if he wont let you try and sus why if not walk away) youll notice the rods may even see the pistons with a torch

- the head should be quite clean and not shitty looking

- look for new sealant anywhere

-check the colour of the coolant------has it been fixed since the core plug issue?

-when you drive it check for CV joint creeks EPs love eating them from what ive seen

- the turbo should be nice looking take the filter off and check for oil residue

apart from that check panel gaps, boot well, front end.......theres also a tappety knock forged engines make mabe listen out? look for a reciept for the engine stuff?

thats all i can think of lol

best way is to ask around, even then be cautious its your money thats on the line not theres so id still check everything i remember a case with some lad i bought some speedline alloys off and apparantly even after his "mates" knew the car he was buying was a shitter they never said anything to him till he realised when doing some work on it

best advice i can give without being there is if in doubt walk away no reason necessary and say youll think about it
