Idrees
No, you need the Pcv valve as an normal breather will always be open.

markv
yeah thats what i was thinking seen alot of race covers just go to a catch can with a breather? i want to drive the car today too to see if the engine is good i tought the pcv valve only opens on boost to leave out excess pressure in the crank and works off the vacumm of the inlet!and if so i block the inlet and run a pipe to a breather then it leaves the engine breath properly?
