Shell Identification, confused!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys had all my main and big end shells out to see which ones I need to order.

Some of them I couldnt even tell what the numbers were  took down all the codes off the other side of the shells though.

Basically I know all the mains can be different numbers, but they was all 2, except for the middle journal which looked like a 1 but then when I looked at it again it looked like a 2? They are the cap side by the way, the block side didnt have any numbers on at all or if they did they must of worn off or is that how its meant to be? Again they had the codes on the other side of the shells.

Also with the conrod shells they were all marked 9C2D for both the cap side and the conrod side EXCEPT one capside which was 9C1C, the crank side was 9C2D so its literally just the one half shell that was different, should it of been the same?

Also with the conrod shells they were marked with numbers on both sides, should they match both capside and conrod side? Reason I ask is on one of them the capside looked like a 2 but the conrod side was a 3?

Hope this makes sense, need to make sure I order the right ones.

Thanks in advance for any help

Lewis

Wish i could help bud but shell codes are a bit more than i know of the top of my head, id advise using a micrometer to measure the thickness and check what the oem thickness is for each code, so you can identifey the worn shells, talk to dave at tm too, he will be more than happy to advise you on whats right or not with the sizing and codes. Dave knows his shit with starlet engine building
