hi,

I recently bought a rev gauge of ebay

Tacho

having read up on wiring one in this one seems to be short some wires, there is only a black, red and blue coming out of the gauge.

how would i go about wiring this up, im dreading hearing that its missing a wire because it doesnt light up because its pretty impossible ot see other wise :) and I've already wrapped the pod in carbon fibre i really just want this to work as expected,

cheers for any help i get guys im a complete novice to wiring anything!

i presume thta red is 12v live. black will be earth. blue will be rev signal. i used a spade connector into the ig+ on the diagnostic port for the blue wire. red of the stereo and black to a chassis bolt.

Im sure the tacho wire in the n/a is a thickish brown/orangey colour wire?

I cant quite remember....

but im guessing the red is a power wire and black is an earth?

Sorry i cant help more bud, someone will build on my crappy opinion :)

did yours light up though string? as I've been looking at a few diagrams and explanations online and they all seem to have a seperate wire they say is for the gauge illumination.

thanks for your helps so far lads

Hello mate, yea red 12v + blavk wilk be earth, blue one will be the rev pick up,, either behind the cluster or somewhere similar, and the 4th wire is normally a dimmer so when u turn the sidelights on it dims it down a bit so its not so bright, u just wont get that, but the 12v + will probs do your backlight

if there is a wire missing, you can take it apart and see where to connect + and - for illumination(if any)
