Taggy
Its an easy job to do, pull it off clean up all the excess sealant from the bottom of the sump and the sump its self, then just get engine sealant. I too was a bit confused at first what to use at engine sealant doesnt really come up with anything when you search for it.Basically its engine instant gasket you need, it looks like silicone and you just smother it all over it then press it on.Halfords or any car parts place should stock it, its all the same stuffJob done My sump is leaking and i wanna drop it down give it a good clean an re-fit...I have been looking at getting a sump gasket but have been told a sealer is better...Never done it befor so am little stuck on whice is best...So question is...If you where doing yours what would you use???If you were to use sealer which one??? Craig_T
As far as I am aware, you can't even get a sump gasket for a starlet and you have to use sealant.Just makes sure both surfaces are clean, use some emery tape or something to clean them up. Wipe down all the dirt/filings from cleaning.Put an even layer around the sump, spread it with your hands and make sure there are no really low points but don't put LOADS on.Put it on straight, flat and put the two middle nuts gently first so it doesn't fall off, then work on opposite corner rule and work inwards to the middle then tighten them all up.It's easy really..
