Billy SR
Recently my car has been squeeking in first gear at startup, I presume the fan belt is either slipping or needs replacing? Well I hope so, because I'm starting uni and can't can't afford to spend any more money. Can someone guide me on changing this if its fairly simple as im at the point where I'm trying to get off my arse and do engine work myself? Taggy
Check the belts and see if they look slack, there are two of them, power steering belt, and your alternator. The power steering one has adjustment on the pump its self, i belive its one bolt to loosen it and then a screw like adjuster, the pump is closest to the front of the car on the left side.Alternator is a bit more of a pain in the arse as you will need to get underneath to loosen the bolt which goes through the alternator its self, once thats loose use a bar of some kind to push the alternator to get some tension on the belt and then tighten it up.Hey presto should get rid of the squeek Recently my car has been squeeking in first gear at startup, I presume the fan belt is either slipping or needs replacing?
