jon5698
could you not fit longer bolts and bolt the seatbelts to the outside mounting poing of the c pillar bar?
Glanza_Ragger
could you not fit longer bolts and bolt the seatbelts to the outside mounting poing of the c pillar bar?Thats what im thinking of doing matey,Im going to nip to the bolt shop tomorrow, see if i can get some with the same thread pitch but longer to go through both the brace and seat belt point.Do you think it will lose rigidity though ? being bolted through both the seat belt point and the brace? Idrees
I'm pretty sure Joz still has his seat belts still fitted ;)

keirz
god damn it idress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i told you joz has the mr chu one!!!!!!!!!!!. the mounting points are different mate. have you got it now. different mounting points and again for good luck........ DIFFERENT MOUNTING POINTS. ;) ;) i have the zep brace mate. i have not attached the plastic holders but have ran the belt through the mounting points on the brace. i will get a pic if you dont get what i mean dude. just give me a shout. Idrees
Did you say different mounting points? ;) ;)
keirz
i sure did. the ones on the mr chu ones are flat and so fit nicely under the seat belt holders but the zep one has a rounded mounting point that doesnt fit flush with the plastic holders. i managed to fuck up both bolts and holes trying to force them on with the holders in place. lol
keirz
i cant say about the legality of doing this but, the plastic things are just to hold the seat belt at a certain level and this way they are in the same place, also the seat belts still work fine as i have tested them and they still run smoothly and stop when jolted. this was the only solution to the problem that i could find. hope this helps keirz
Glanza_Ragger
Thanks so much matey ;) Keirz gets my loving all monday now ;) How did you get the actual belt through that small gap though haha, i havent had a really good look at the seat belt, but did you mount the brace points either side, then actually remove the brace bar? slide the seat belt webbing into it, then re-attatch the bar ?does that make sense ? lol

keirz
it makes sense mate. this is complex as hell and it took me ages to figure out how to get it right. lol. i will do a quick how to from memory.1) remove both mounting points from the brace. just them two bolts, so you just have the blue things2) attach these in the car both sides. look at my pics to get the right angle. !!!WARNING!!! be very careful not to go in at the wrong angle or you will completely fuck up the bolt and hole, if you do this you will probably cry. i did. then have to re thread the holes and get new bolts.3) adjust the bar so that it is really short.4)attach one side in. put the belt there then bang the bolt through so the bar is attached to the mounting point but dont fully tighten as you will need some movement to get it to line up with the other side..5) now you should have the bar in but it will be too short to reach the other side. keep adjusting till it reaches the right lenght to bolt the other side in.6) now just tighten every thing up and bobs your uncle.7) stand back, crack a beer and admire........the plastic holder things are just loose on the belt at the minute as i will be putting the car back to normal when i sell it.keirz
jon5698
looking at the way the seat belt is i would say he out the belt through before he bolted the brace together.
Jozinobi
Mr_Chu Pillar Braces FTW ;) ;) ;) EASY Installation Guaranteed lmao compared to other stubborn stainless pillar braces!!Plus its thicker toooo, mmmmmm Joz
Glanza_Ragger
Haha thanks everybody specially keirz. nice one chappy ;) saved me a mad headache.i was sitting in there pondering over how to go about fitting the seatbelts for about an hour yesterday before needed asparin lmaosuch a simple lookin thing can be a right pain in the ass ;) ill get a photo up when ive re sorted it in a while ;)its on there, but the belt isnt going through the gap in the brace, its just hanging behind the seats in the boot atm lol not good for mr police man
keirz
no probs mate. at least you did not mess up the bolts then you would have a massive head ache. i messed up both sides, had to go running to my dad to get his tap and die set out to re thread them and then had to search around lots of hardware places to find matching bolts. what i thought was a two minute job turned into a 3 day nightmare. and thats what you get for rushing to fit it during the 10min half time of liverpool vs chelsea!!! Mart
Where do you get the Mr_Chu one from Joz? Is it roughly price as the Zep??
Jozinobi
They have to be made to order from Japan Mart unless he has a few in stock, well worth the wait tho.Contact him on tgtt for prices. The old for sale thread has been cleaned up on tgtt for some reason. To check against the price of a zep one, check tobys store for that. However for ease of installation and legality, I recommend this one, not the Zep.Joz
