steve-gers
As above how far does it need to open to prevent a boost spike running about 0.8-1.0 bar? Have made a bracket for the actuator but with the actuator arm fully out the penny is roughly open 45 degrees.
micky boy
As long as the bracket is flush to the cold side of the turbo then it souldnt matter how far it opens as its the arm of the actuator that moves not the bracket!..So if you have adjustable then you can have the bracket anywere you wanted realy
steve-gers
What I meant was even with the actuator arm fully extended (with everything bolted in place) it only opens the penny to an angle of roughly 45 degrees and I need to know if this will be far enough open to hold boost stead at 0.8-1.0 bar or will I need to adjust the bracket so that the arm can open the penny up further when it is fully extended. klyfax
Its not wastegate valve thats the problem. Its the WG hole thats to small. All internal WG have that problem. External WG, or use some sort of cutting to wide the hole. Ive done 3 turbos, all 3 controlled the boost perfectly after the mod. No overboost, no spikes.Or it its the hose to the actuator thats to small, so the actuator doesn't react fast enough.
steve-gers
The turbo isn't fitted yet I just need to know if this will be enough of an opening or not. forgot to mention its a TD04
Flaminsam
Standard Subaru actuators will only run 0.6 bar even when they are fully wound in. Your better off getting a boost controller.
klyfax
45 degrees opening is enough
steve-gers
I have a greddy profec b spec 2 electronic boost controller. Thanks thats what I needed to hear as I didn't want to fit it all then have to take it apart later.
Flaminsam
Same set up as mine.
StuDoc 72
It only has to open a tiny bit if its at 45 degrees at 0.8 bar you will get practically no boost what so ever.
