So what determines on how much boost a car can run I understand the facts that stuff needs to be forged to take the power but what determines a car running 1bar high boost and another running 20bar High boost. The car I am getting soon can run 1bar high boost which is 220bhp but what's stopping that from having even more?

Thanks

Its down to what the turbo can handle people have lots of different pressures but there is an optimum for what a turbo can handle before it starts to put it at risk and wont really create any more power. So with a standard ct9 most people say 1 bar is the optimum safe pressure so running any more pressure isnt really worth it as u wont get much more power but it will be more likely to damage it.

Then as they get bigger they generally hold more pressure so a hybrid ct9 may be good up to 1.2 bar

A TD04 up to about 1.4

Then the bigger turbos ive heard running up to 2 bar and above.

Hope this helps.

Yeah im sure you can run more than that on a td04 theres loads of people on here that run td04s, i dont myself so ud be best asking someone who has tried and tested but im sure its not uncommon to run 1.4 on these but best to ask.

People often run 1bar on a td04 with stock internals like myself producing around the same kinda figure u quoted mate the boys that run 1.4 bar are the boys with forged engines and they produce around 270-280bhp give or take a bit people have ran 1.4 bar on stock internals it's just a case of how much u want to push your engine dude
