My wideband has arrived, and im looking at getting it welded in pretty soon, now firstly, the manual doesn't state how far it should be welded from the turbo, it just says, downstream from the turbo?

Secondly the bung that is with it is a 1" deep Mild steel one, now i've got a S/S one about 0.5" deep, will it do the sensor any damage being a bit further in the flow of the exhaust?

Here is the manual:

Section 2.4 is the bung part, would it even be possible to use the narrowband mount point on my WEPR downpipe?

my depo one needs to have the bung welded in 36 inches from the exhaust port (at a minimum) I would not put it in the downpipe that is far too close

Hmm, mine doesn't say anything like that just says on turbocharged vehicles: Install the bung downstream from the turbo before the cat(which i dont have), the high exhaust pressure before the turbo interferes with lambda measurement, and the high exhaust temperatures encountered there can damage the sensor.

So would it be best to do it at about 36" away from exhaust port on turbo? And does an ex wastegate affect lambda readings?

As well, if I have it welded in under the gearbox, will it still give accurate readings from the narrowband signal if I intend to remove the standard sensor and use this?

for information

if you look at VW cars , they use the wideband Bosch sensor and they are very close of the turbocharger,in the downpipe....i did mine like this

It's ok I've fitted it all now :)

My only question now is the manual says the heater in the sensor should always be on whenever the engine is, now my car has a turbo timer built into the alarm, which turns power to everything but the engine off, is this 60 seconds or so cooling down time gonna damage the sensor?
