steve-gers Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I bought redline MT-90 75W90 for my box before I realised that it has an LSD fitted. Is this oil still ok for it? Quote
morgey Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Think it depends on the diff. Oem is ok with normal oil but after market has different recommendations Quote
steve-gers Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 it looks like a TRD mechanical one Quote
starletburkie Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 mechanical is clutch type so you need a friction modifier, if that oil has some in it you will be ok but you may need to buy separate and add with the mt 90 Quote
steve-gers Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 I thought I would only need a friction modifier if the LSD was clunky and noisey? MT-90 doesn't have a friction mod in it but redline sell it on its own. Quote
starletburkie Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 you need a friction modifier if its a clutch type diff! im going to use millers ls 75w 90 nt in mine, same diff Quote
steve-gers Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 I was going to use thta but ended up going with redline. what happens if I don't use a friction modifier? Quote
starletburkie Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 i think it will just be alot more clunky! id add it just to be safe Quote
steve-gers Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Doesn't clunk at all just now the way it is though. Very quiet diff. Quote
steve-gers Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 I'm just going by pictures on here what the diff looks like so could be mate guess the only way to tell would be to split the box but that is too much hassle. Quote
