Jordk Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 I have recently changed the gearbox oil in my Glanza gearbox and have noticed a distinctive clunk at speeds below 40mph (accelerating and decellerating). It never did this before the last thing I did was a full service. It's fitted with a trd LSD (metal plated type). I realise the diff will naturally knock slightly at slow speeds but this is ridiculous and the car jolts about violently. The oil is Fuchs 75w90 stuff (black bottle with red label can't remember the name). Any clues to what might cause this? Simply wrong oil or perhaps a loose mount/collapsed bearing? Quote
AdamB Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 The clutch type diffs normally knock when slow turning, does it do this? You could have a cusco lsd as they knock. The oil your using is fine. Quote
Jordk Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 Yeah it does when turning also. More noticeable in a straight line though. It's a very loud clunking and violent jerking just worried me haha Quote
AdamB Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 The diff oil your using is good, but a lot of people recommend adding a friction modifier to reduce clunking. That may be worth a try mate. Quote
Jordk Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 There's also a slight leak so maybe loosing oil is causing it to be louder? Ill look for a friction modifier and try that out. Quote
TurboTobz Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Cusco clunking is loud violent and I miss it! Could well be a Cusco though! Quote
