Atm im on a td05 thats pretty flat out i need more power
shorty
arp head bolts should be ok but alot off 2bar pluss lads eun arp studs as they are 10mm as apose to 8mm and studs are claimed to be better in engines than bolts. head gasket depends on compression ratio and boost levels, the cr can be altered many ways depending on what you are doing to the head. cams, billet cams are the only one that will drop straight in with minimal fuse but prices can be around 700-900 for a set depending on supplier. as for ratio of cam profile it will vary depending on boost and rev limits etc
AdamB
I personally would swap over to headstuds, they only have stress on the 1 axis rather than 2. What trim of gt30 are you going for? You can go upto like 550bhp on a gt30. Headgasket will vary depending on what management and fuel you are going to be using. Me personally prefers a higher CR engine simply because it creates more power throughout the whole rev range and you don't have to work the turbo so hard or run so much ignition advance. Decide what the car is going to be used for then decide what CR you want, 8.2:1 still yields good results upto like 400-450bhp on pump 99 fuel.If your looking to run the turbo near its max, you'll need to be reving the engine to like 8500 if on a 4e to get use of its efficiency. You'll need valve springs, solid bucket, cams and prob a wise move to look for some steel retainers. As for cams you could get the stock cams re-profiled but will be a ballache to get the right tolerences. Go for a set billets, get in contact with Ivan Tighe for one of their spec sheets. el_man
cheers mate, where do i get these headstuds from and what sort of work is needed? is there a guide?
AdamB
They are 4AGE headstuds, TD stock them on tneir website. To fit you need to drill and tap the block to suit the larger size. Also have to have the head drilled out to accept the larger studs. Also some of the casting on the inside of the cylinder head next to the buckets will need ground away to allow you to get a socket on the nut.Sounds like a lot of work but can all be done in a couple of hours.
