you can speak about tyre compounts

a softer compound will give you more grip but will ware out quicker

a harder compound has the reverse affect.

you could also speak about tyre widths and hights,

the higher the sidewall the more comfier ride,

the lower, less flex and a more rigid footpring promoting a better stearing feel

drag radials need a high sided tyre wall with low psi, that helps with grip off the line

a bigger width of tyre might offer more grip in the dry but will lead to tram lining and also aquaplaining in the wet,

if your speaking about alloys too you can go on about the pitch circle diamiter(diameter between the studs

the offset, how far the wheels come out.

there are a few other bits and bobs,

give us a phone ifyour looking for ideas man ;)

The first bit is the width

Second is tyre wall size

Third is the inside diameter (size of rim that fits the tyre)

Just to be picky but the seconed number is actually the height as a percetage of the width!!!! ie 50% of say 195mm the height would be 97mm

what really confuese me about tire dimensions is that the first number is in mm but the diameter is in inches metric and imperial god they like confusing matters!!!! ;)
