gbobnopants
hi all new to the forum and must post how happy I am with a recently purchased Sr in white with 86k on the clock. I brought this for 2 reasons needed a car to teach the missus in and always wanted 1 myself but never got round to it as far as I'm aware the car is standard but absolutely blown away by how it gets round corners it's so much fun my other car is a jag xjr super fast and knocks the smirk off many a Porsche owners face but is nowhere near as fun as the starlet I must admit going from 370-74bhp is a bit of a kick in the testis so to the point I get. I'm really happy with how flat it stays round bends so don't want to ruin it by adding coilovers which in my opinion aren't needed I do want a bit more kick though I've read about the paseo engine swap but this engine must weight more surely I don't want to do anything to make it loose its feel and can't find a 4efte engine for sale anywhere so gonna guess there expensive when they turn up is there anything I can do to make it have a little more kick without spending thousands dropping a turbo lump in it (unless someone can point me in a affordable way or a specialists website) without making it to loud and without putting unnecessary weight over the front wheels a thought was the good old method of twin 40s but I already have 1 thirsty motor without the need for another I'm sure this has been covered but every post I've read with people asking this question get there thread taken over by folk just saying save up and drop a turbo in it any decent links would be spanking as I'm new to the Toyota clan and still finding my way round the web but I know no matter how hard you look there's 1 brilliant one that eludes your attention
Flaminsam
Firstly, welcome to the site. There are a few SR owners on here and many of them enjoy their N/A starlets just as much as those of us with GT's or glanzas. The 4efe engines are almost identical to the 4efte engine although the 4efe has a higher compression ratio and weaker valve springs. Some easy modifications i believe to make the 4efe a little bit quicker are relitavely simple to do.For example the Corolla inlet from a 4efe frees up a few ponies, also the 4efte inlets and throttle body work too. If i were you, i would look through some build threads that other members have posted up. Get some ideas on how they have gone about getting more power or better handling. You will be surprised what these little cars are capable of with the money spent in the correct areas. I do believe some of the cars on here will even give your Jag a hard time. gbobnopants
yup so did a r33 gtr driver last week lol if we keep the car long enough a turbo conversion could be on the menu but always had my heart set on a bike powered hatch but the girl friend wants to turn it into a ice car :-[ I've found enough threads to turn the turbo units into Megatron but barley anything to do with the Sr Edited March 29, 2013 by gbobnopants
