FreedomCore Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 I was pissing about with the throttle body the other day and now it seems that my car is idling high at times. I know what it is. I just can't think of a way to solve it. The bit that holds the cable returns to it original position most of the time. But seems to get stuck slightly open a few mm every now and again. The only way to get the revs to drop is to pump the gas a bit or open the bonnet and push the mechanism back. Could I have dislodge some gunk in the t/b and got the flap thing stuck? Quote
Danza V Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 I'd just adjust th cable tighter, if that's possible? Quote
FreedomCore Posted June 26, 2013 Author Posted June 26, 2013 Nah it's not the cable. It's like the actual spring that closes the t/b flap. Quote
Danza V Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Oh right I get you. I'd spray it or copper slip it to help movement. I have had this before on a old Austin and it did work, but you may have already done this? Quote
FreedomCore Posted June 26, 2013 Author Posted June 26, 2013 Yeah I've been dowsing it for the last couple of days. Quote
Addymk2 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 How tight is it bolted to the intake manifold? May have been slightly over tightened bud Quote
FreedomCore Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 Well i didnt go over board with tightening. Just nicked them up. What about the nut that holds the throttle cable pulley on? Because I took that off and "spruced it up" Quote
Addymk2 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 That's the one I'm on about mate, if that's too tight it won't let the mechanism spring back bud Quote
FreedomCore Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 I loosened it off. I'll take it for a spin and report back in a while. Thanks in advanced. =] Quote
FreedomCore Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 No such luck. I'm going to try putting my glanza tb on. Quote
FreedomCore Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 Ok in the process of installing the glanza tb, i realised that i didnt have any extra hose about so i cleaned up the NA tb and it seems to have solved it Quote
