mikey4410 Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 standard pistons are size 1 right ? as i am going to replace my pistons in my starlet turbo and was wondering what size standard pistons are as my numbers arent there any more due to the car running an auto ecu and running lean and melting inlet side on all four. are the standard pistons always number 1 and if so is there anyway of finding out on a tear down that the engines never been stripped apart, like standard headgasket, certain sealant they use etc ? any help would be great Quote
AdamB Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Believe its marked on the deck of the block mate.I wouldn't just assume as some engines have various different sizes for each cylinder. Quote
AdamB Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Just checked the manual mate and the size marks are on both the piston and block deck. Different piston and cylinder bore sizes are used. Pistondiameter and cylinder bore diameter are determined by size mark ("1","2" or "3") stamped on top of piston and cylinder block deck surface Quote
mikey4410 Posted July 26, 2013 Author Posted July 26, 2013 Ure a legend mate, thanks for that double checked info.bless you Quote
EPnick22 Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 when i got mine apart, the first 3 were number 1's, the 4th was a number 2 haha measured it properly and the bores were all exactly the same Quote
AdamB Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 The bores may have been the same but the pistons may not have. Chopping and changing to get the correct piston-wall oil clearence Quote
EPnick22 Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 haha too bad 3 of them cracked like eggs Quote
