Weird temp readings, any ideas?

When the cars sat at idle the temp gauge bounces up and down quite a bit,

Also it does this when I'm driving, but as soon as I put my foot down and the car starts boosting, the need drops right to the bottom of the gauge and then returns once I let off,

Any ideas?

Temp sensor.

Loose connection for the temp sensor. I had the same, and IIRC its was the connection on the side of the block, closer to the front of the engine. It's a spade type connection (the plug slips onto a flat metal protrusion)
