scottieboi94 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Hi everyone, I was driving down the motorway and i heard a bang from the engine bay and i then i heard the manifold blowing a lot, After i heard that i needed to replace my turbo anyway, so I put the new turbo on and made sure i secured the manifold and turbo tight with new gaskets and it is still blowing, not as bad, but still is, any ideas? Ollieh17 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 did you smooth the manifold and block first with sand paper or something similar to give the gasket a flat surface, can make a difference? Also look for cracks on the manifold Quote
scottieboi94 Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 (edited) no didnt smooth it and will have a look for cracks on the manifold when i take it off, are cracks noticeable as when i had it off i didnt notice anything when changing my turbo Edited December 9, 2013 by scottieboi94 Quote
Turk Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Cracks are noticeable, just wondering what gasket your using. because everyones saying you should use an oem toyota one. Quote

Ollieh17 Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 do not buy that gasket, i did and it was wack. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300914157256?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648 this one generally looked and felt alot better quality, very very close to oem Quote
scottieboi94 Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 you bought the exact gasket i did? and did you also buy the gasket you recommended? Quote
Ollieh17 Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Yup brought the one you posted first used it, manifold was blowing. Changed it for the the one i posted. It's basically OEM quality they claim so should be very similar to ID Work oe ones. Up to you which one you choose. But i wouldn't go for the crush type gaskets again Quote
Zeldoz Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Crush ones are horrendous! Used one before on my K20 civic.. had to take it all off again.. on a K20 the manifold is on the back of the engine with BARELY room for a ratchet.. i could've of killed Japspeed! Used an Id-workz.co.uk last night. Top quality, no blowing! Quote
scottieboi94 Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 ok i will change it then can someone send me the one i need please would appreciate it Quote
