Connected up the wire to the tacho wire on the back of the cluster and isn't working is there something else I need to do?

im running omex 600..


if you hav removed the distributor to use the Omex coil, then that's the problem as the wire is in the distributor.


you need an aftermarket tacho gauge which the omex has an output for.

I don't know anything about the Omex units but a lot of aftermarket ecu's only supply low level signals for the tacho, where as the stock tacho is designed to run of the coil -ve which is high level. In the past I've changed the resistor inside the tacho itself to make it work off the low level signal

For sure things are not that complicated. The stock tach does run from the igf signal, but this is just a square wave signal. You just need to configure the tacho output in the omex software.

There is usually an option to use either 5v or 12v in the tacho output.



I run my ep71 cluster, through my haltech E6X, without any resistor or trick. Just square wave and 12v.
