You can reshape fins it's painstaking google it its the same as doing it to a rad.

I've read in a motocross bike manual they compressed air can even help going through the fins

I would try and shape them using a thin flat blade screwdriver or a craftsman's knife, however I bet that the fins will just fall out as they are very brittle.



It will certainly affect the cooling effect and your intake charge temps will likely be higher, that's what the fins are therefore is to help dissipate heat. It won't be doing no good either way, but unless you track the car and intake temps are a big factor in the running of your engine it probably isn't something worth worrying about massively.
