Hello,

I currently drive a German shopping trolley which gives me silly MPG blah blah blah. I've owned Jap cars before (MR2 turbo & Integra Type R) but currently looking @ Starlets.

I've seen one which someone would be willing to PX with my German shopping trolley but I have no idea what I'm looking at as never been in a Starlet or known anyone who has owned one.

It's a P reg, silver and standard apart from HKS dump valve, HKS air filter, cat back exhaust & GAB suspension I believe.

One thing that puts me off them is the awful interior but I was thinking of taking a lot of it out to lighten it up + possible roll cage to add some rigidity to the car.

From reading a few things apparently the car lacks an LSD which it could do with, it goes flat after about 5,000rpm and the steering wheel feels really big.

I'm just after a daily runner really. Should be cheap enough on fuel when not boosting all the time + give me more fun than a 1.2 NA!

Anything to look out for on these cars and where does the initial tuning of them start? Can you get any more power out of these biddy engines without having to uprate internals + keeping reliability?

Also another question... do you ever get asked if it's a Corsa? :p

Thanks in advance. :p

Welcome to UKSC B)

You will be suprised with the wee starlets performance/ capabilites and the amount of fun for the cost :p

There is a sticky thread in the technical section about what to look out for but overal these are very reliable little cars when looked after :p

I agree on the interior and thats why mine is stripped out B)

Hope to see you posting some pics of the V when you own it ;)

welcome to the club mate uve come to the right place by the way and it seams you have done your homework on the ep

[*]It's a P reg, silver and standard apart from HKS dump valve, HKS air filter, cat back exhaust & GAB suspension I believe.

this is good, seams to have all the essentials there to get you started. as getting these parts from scratch stops people getting to the decent power due to cash restraints.

quiet a few models came from the factory with an lsd as an option.

if your aiming for over 200bhp and dont have one an lsd could is a worthwhile option but there are other things that could be addressed first.

5000rpm sounds about right for the standard turbo running out of power. its only tiny but the midrange shove of more than makes up for it

the usual things like if its maintained etc il pm you a few guides to let you know where to start. but the first thing would be to buy rear anti roll bar and anti lift kit.

welcome to uksc.
