Jay2ohh
Hi guys, got a spare lump that was down on compression on cylinder 4 but it's in really good condition, i can't afford to go forged for a long long time so I was wondering how much roughly is an engine rebuild? Am I right in thinking that it makes the engine pretty much brand new inside so 0miles theoretically? Bit of a noob question but that's out my knowledge area hahaPros and cons also? Really considering this so I have a fresh engine incase anything goes tits ups with mine
Jhandy
well if its down on compression, your gonna need at least one piston, some people still have standard pistons forsale, but you need to know what number the piston is, there is a number next to the bore when you remove the head. and rebuilding a engine doesn't mean it 0 miles, because you still have the original crank caps, even block, you would have to replace the big end and small end bearings, thrust washers, need a new head gasket kit, and one piston and new rings for all pistons. i think i rebuilt mine for about 350 a couple of years ago, and most of the parts where genuine toyota, apart from the second hand pistons. hope this helps jake

And only 350? Jesus I was thinking towards the £800 mark I can do some things but I really wouldn't trust myself
