Pcv valve head ache

I've changed the rocker cover which had no pcv valve in it, I've popped the valve out but how on earth do you get the clip out. And once out back in the new cover.

Any help greatly received.

There is no clip it's held in by a rubber grommet only clips are in the rubber pipe going to the inlet.
