Compression test

Recommended Posts

I've just done a compression test I didn't open throttle body I just turned it over I reading were 98,138,150,90 I know there shouldn't be more than a 15psi drop between each cylinder & that it should be around 170marl considering how old these engine are. Should I re do it with throttle body open??

Should all four plugs be out at one aswell?

I do one plug at a time but makes no real difference.

You should do it with the throttle wide open, but all it does is reduce the cylinder pressures. Don't know how you managed to get 150 with the throttle closed because thats about the average of a well worn engine. I believe they are normally around 80-90 with the throttle closed.

Second that mate, 140 or lower is rebuild time from what I've read in the manual. Think of all that torque you'll be losing, it will just be escaping into the crankcase lol.
