Service bolt for cam timing

Hi guys need some help posted a thread yesterday about low compression, fitted new rings and found I had low compression, I hav checked the timing and all is fine but somone has mentioned somthing about a service bolt for the inlet cam gear, I havnt used one and new nothing about it can someone explain and could this be the reason for having low compression still? Thanks?

No it won't be the cause of your loss of compression. Because the E series isn't a true twin cam design both cams are meshed together and the service bolt just keeps the inlet cam tensioned when you remove the cam caps.


All it will do if you didn't tension it, it will just be a bit rattly.
