Few issues? Head work/inlet problems?

To start off, I have a 4efe na which I believe has developed a problem in the head somewhere as I've used half the oil on the dipstick in under two weeks which is less than 400 miles for me. It use to sometimes pour out smoke on start up when cold before I put the corolla inlet mani with mr2 throttle body which I haven't noticed it smoking on cold but it doesn't idle up anymore on cold. But has been using more oil and sometimes smell the oil burning when accelerating/driving along. I do believe the tappets have gone as well very loud on start up :/

I have been think of rebuilding the head with all new seals, better cams and possibly valve springs. I can get another 4efe head from my local scrapy but I was wondering if anyone had any information on things to do as I rebuilding I thought may aswell go out and have some work done on it.

Also any suggestions on why it won't rev up on cold is appreciated.
