coolant expansion bottle

Hi all,

im a complete novice and this question will seem stupid but here goes.my last car"s expansion bottle cap had a pipe from the rad and another going out,(i presume to release eccess water,but on my starlet the cap only has the one pipe from the rad,why is this please.

Because the expansion bottle holds it and a vacuum takes it back into the rad when it is needed.
