rippon91 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Put a new cam belt on my gt and now it won't start, it's fueling and sparking but doesn't even try and go any ideas? Quote
Ep82gi Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Have you got any pictures of how you have timed it up? Did you for any reason remove the distributor? Quote
rippon91 Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 I marked everything up and put it it back how it came off, could the cam be 360 degrees out? Quote
tommcnaught Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Most likely timing is out, also did you tension cam gear by lining up service holes on second cam? Quote
Calum122 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Due to the Starlet not being a true twin cam engine, the inlet cam is spring loaded. You must put in the service bolt before dismantling the cam lobes, else they will become unsprung. Although it will still run with it unsprung, just rather noisy. I would double check the timing on the cams mate, so many times people ask this question and 9/10 you will be just 1 tooth out! Quote
rippon91 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Ok thanks how do I know when the cam is in the tdc position when the bottom crank is? I'm properly losing motivation with it haha Quote
