Yeah your right, we pushed to 330 bhp and it was smoking, so I've decided to have a full re build, it's more money but at least it will be a fresh job and to be fair when you buy a car you never really know what state it is in.

yeah it is at the moment, trying to work the problem. just dissapointed that the car is geared to run the power and it looks like the engine will let it down. im not a mechanic but would have thought the engine would be checked prior to going for big power.

Gutted, Waited 6 months for my car, will have spend nearly 7k on mods and have just found out there could be a problem with the engine 6 months in. crank case pressure is much higher than it should be. it made a measly 290 bhp at 1 bar, on the v band kit, which is rated to 400 bhp. The engine made 335bhp at 1.5 bar previously and this wasn't running right. If the engine is screwed then i will need a company that can sort it out. Can any of you recommend a company? Thank you, im gonna go down the pub and cry into my beer ;-(

I'm not sure to be honest, I spoke to Ricky yesterday and there's vibration in the shaft, it wasn't knocking months ago but if it's been standing for a few months it isn't going to do it any good. I think it's just general wear and tear, thanks for the advice i think he has a spare one which we will try first and get some miles on the dyno. You could be right with the CV joints I'm guessing with increased power weaknesses are found. pretty incredible really to think that a standard drive shaft has lasted at nearly 3 times the factory output. They certainly over engineered everything back in the day. ;-)

Hi Daniel_G yeah thats the one, i brought it off pistonheads, he was a really good guy, to be honest he knew a lot about cars and pretty much build the car himself, he was only 21. Had a few small problems like oil leaks and sensors not working, The exhaust was restricting power, then got talking to him about other turbo options and he recommened Race-tech Spoke with Ricky at race - tech and decided to go for the v band kit with stand alone ECU. Can't wait to get it back. I will be getting rid of the old gear in the next few months, so will list them on here. Im told the engine is good for 400bhp from the previous owner and the turbo is rated to 400 bhp, it certainly didn't miss a beat at 335bhp but i think another 65bhp is pushing it. Who knows could make the numbers or could go bang lol! either way its a fun car ;-)

Thank you, I'll pass this on to race tech, looks an amazing spec tho. It's worth buying if you go through a few standard ones. Toyota aren't cheap, I was hoping I could use my discount as I contract through Toyota. They won't budge. :-(

Will do, ill upload some in the next few days, the car was running the vf35 turbo, the registration is r100xet. Brought it of a young lad near lincoln last September.

Really appreciate that, in many respects that laggy turbo that was on the car previously has probably hidden this problem as it didn't spin up as quick. You watch the v band kit will spin up much quicker and the gearbox will be next ha ha ;-) thanks will enquire

Hello, i say new owner but i've had the car for 6 months. Only just joined. The car i have was running a very sluggish 335bhp on a laggy turbo, currently up at race tech having the v band fitted so hoping for big power, reason for having one of these cars.............. the power gains are incredible for the size of engine. I saw a 300 bhp one go past me in a very powerful mark 1 fiat uno turbo that was fully forged and thought thats my next car ;-)

Good Evening, my car is up at racetech and has been standing for about 5 months, bigger turbo has gone on started mapping. Was running 335bhp prior to the new mods and i have been told there is a vibration / knocking, a replacement spare wa no good so will opt for a new one. Could really do with some advice on either a) a new standard drive shaft from Toyota and how i may get one or an uprated / custom one. thanks for your help as you will no doubt know a lot more than me kind regards Marc
