  1. IIRC they should idle at around 800-850. Mine's started acting up recently, idling at 1500 when cold and down to 1000 when warm. Occasionally it drops to 850-900 with and without electrical load and then back up to 1000. Odd. Could be a bad earth.

Well, the Zisco bits are all fitted, apart from one problem. My top intercooler pipe no longer fits :p The turbo that came with the kit must have been rotated slightly, but it's been enough to throw out any chance of the pipe cleanly fitting. To be fair, even on the old turbo it was never a good fit and always involved a bit of cursing and aluminium filings flying everywhere when trying to manhandle it on.

Luckily I know someone who does ally welding, so I'm going to get in touch with him later. Spent the rest of the afternoon treating the car to a wash and wipe down in the engine bay.

    JDM y0!

  3. Not a lot has happened since coilovers and a half-arsed attempt at porting the turbo, but I now have a Zisco external wategate kit sat in my shed with a modded CT9 and a TiAL wg with a 0.8 bar spring in. Hopefully fit it this weekend if my new vacuum hosing arrives today or tomorrow!

Just to confirm, the line from the turbo goes to the side port on the TiAL yeah? Top one open to atmos?

  4. Thermo has been changed already about 2 months ago, coolant comes up to temp fine now (it was taking 30 mins or so to get up to temp before it got changed!).

As Jamie said, i have a sneaking suspicion that it's wiring. Just been out now and it's fine, wiggled wiring about and its back to it's derpy self. What would be involved then, re soldering it on again or something?

  5. Hey all, for a while now I've had a problem where the needle for coolant temp in the standard cluster will dip from the normal level depending on if the engine is under load or if the car is going over bumps etc. The coolant level is pretty much full, and I've topped it up before now with no effect. When the car is stopped and there's no throttle what so ever, the needle always returns to the normal temperature position (just under half), so it can't be overheating. Range of movement can be from normal level all the way down to the bottom of the gauge. Never goes above.

The waterpump is practically brand new, and the belt hasn't been slipping (no noise, alternator is fine etc), so what could it be? A bad earth or something that's loose (moving about with the car's movement), or a knackered temp sensor? Anyone had this before?

  6. Quick question, is there a specific name for the tool to use that tightens up the metal ties? I've searched on eBay and can't find one!

And what length of wrap would I need to do a Zisco CT9 ram manifold with external wastegate? Would 2 inch by 15 ft be enough?
