  1. Welcome hope you enjoy your stay everyone is great!

Just a quick question have you got the only Glanza over there? Not been funny but just seen your island on the map, nice might I add but, do you ever get out of third gear?

Definately get some pics up soon!

  2. Welcome along! Considering your in overalls in your pic I'm going to make the assumption you know your shit!

Avoid FCD's unless set up properly and watch out for uber boost spikes!

    Apart from that, enjoy!

Hmm, a little but thats not actually me lol, thats my other half and my eldest son. I'll let you off considering i must appear headless. Thank you.

  3. Welcome to ukso! :D

I think all the advice above is very wise... I'd be doing a compression test...making sure the engine is stone cold when you get there.. If it is warm 99% of the time there trying to hide something... Ask about service history and then check plugs to see if its running rich/lean/overheating etc.

Mainly mechanical with starlets... I personally haven't seen any that are covered in rust etc

Thank you, quite a few people have mentioned the compression test, I will have to invest in one. I don't really fancy having to overhaul the engine after only having it for a week. Thank you once again.

  4. Welcome along!, check for rust around arches, check floor and matts for leaks or damp, also check boot for any signs of damp!, don't be afraid to pull the boot liner up and have a good nose around! Check all electrics,(windows, mirrors wipers, lights, interior light), general check of everything running right, Don't forget cold starts.. Make sure when you get there the car is cold.. If its warm then delay them as much as possible then start from cold.. Check underneath if you can, again for rust etc etc. Check all dash lights are working correctly, handbrake seatbelt door open.. Check boot catch and petrol catches work (located on the right hand side of the floor on drivers side) Check all gauges are working If any!, along with turbo timer if applicable. Also check any central locking if it has it, and try to set it off if possible to make sure it works! Also check air con if its there... Even down to the nitty gritty.. Such as seats moving as they should! Even back seats folding as they should.. Check the key fits and locks all locks! Everything lol list goes on and on! Should take a good hour or so for a proper good look around! Then of course the test drive.. Listen for the usual knocks/bangs, scrubbing of arches, crunching of gears!, test all gears including reverse! And brakes etc etc! Check all fluids too! :-p then if you have time after that.. Buy the bloody thing! Haha Hope at least some of that helps! (Don't have to do it all. Just if you want to be real anal about it all!) :)

I am now tempted to be anal, I was quite particular but now I feel an anal coming on! :) Thanks for all that advice thats great! Worst case senario I could just drag you along with me lol!

  5. Boy joins forum - gets a few hellos

Girl joins - everyone posts ha, welcome to UKSO.

Check out the starlets for sale on here or pistenheads :)

Well you know us girls, we always like the limelight! Thank you.

  6. Welcome along, your defo on the right site for advice and banter :) any info on the evo in your avatar? Love a good evo :D

Thank you. Evo is my other halfs it's an I've (4) pushing on 370bhp, full 6 interior because the 4's are RANK! All other usual engine mods nothing to boy racer you know the type. Once I get my Starlet I can bully him around town :p

  7. Welcome along. Also good listen to the manifold for blows. They can crack and on the head where the exhaust manifold bolts on the end can crack. Look if the rear discs have gone red on the edge. Sign of binding callipers if red

Thank you, I have heard about the manifold but that will be the first thing I will change, as I've heard about the restriction in port 3 know one likes a blocked nose! And of course it cracking. Thanks for the advice on the callipers but when you mean red is that after a drive and they're glowing or as in a red dust residue?

  8. Hi welcome to the forum

The hottest gf thread is a bit dead at the moment, so please contribute if you like

    Welcome again

Ooo wheres the link? I'll have to check out the competition. I'll have to wait though, I don't think anyone would appreciate a half naked pregnant women who feels like an obese whale! :shok:

  9. These engines are known to break piston ring lands. Many people say 230bhp is the limit of the stock engine, some have had more and some have had less. I had the ring lands let go on me at standard boost on a stock turbo. So it really is hit and miss. It will also give you a good indication of how healthy the motor is as well :)

Interesting ... Thanks for the heads up! Always good to know what your dealing with.

  10. Hello to all,

I'm Carly but you can call me Peaches. Unfortunately at the moment I do not own one of these pocket rockets but, since attending the Japfest show up Castle Combe the other week, I have fell in love and trolled Piston Heads and forums ever since. So, why not join one? As this forum seems to be the most informative I aim to get an insight into what I will own in the not so distant future!

Hope everyone's had a good weekend!

P.S My first question, has anyone got a list or link to a decent buyers guide when purchasing these beauty's 2nd hand? I can't seem to find a decent guide anywhere.

    *Pro's

    *Con's

    *Do's

    *Don'ts

As I don't want mine turning into garden furniture!
