  1. I've got a cheap and cheerful intercooler for ct9, changing it because I don't want one that comes below the front bumper.

After £60 for it, price reflects condition, but no holes etc and perfectly usable. Also I'm in Nottingham.

Let me know if you are interested and I'll get pics

    turbo water pipes still fitted
turbo oil feed/return included but not pictured
HKS actuator, was running at roughly 1.0 bar
Mild steel manifold, doesnt look pretty, and i welded up a crack. but should be strong for a while.

  4. Picked up a spare block from Rob (because he's awesome) on friday afternoon, and set to work on it saturday.

it had started to knock so i still had to strip it and asses the damage.

one spun shell and one melted into itself. wear in the main shells.

so all in all, a very savable engine, even if i do have to mix a conrod from my engine.

still needs a crank grind and a full set of bearings and little ends, but i can live with that.

started cleaning it up now i knew i could use it

  5. terrible terrible things were discovered today.

pulled the sump off, amount of silicone (quite likely bathroom sealant) used is a good sign of a shit engine build

In short, the whole bottom end is FUBAR.

In more depth, the cylinder bores are oval, no.1 conrod is bent, crank is worn, main bearing cap broke.

Need a new engine or bottom end really. usually i would prefer to repair what ive got, so i know i can trust it, instead of taking a gamble on a second hand engine with no history that could have similar problems, but in this case, it would cost me the price of a forged engine just to repair it to standard spec.

still cant get the smell of burnt oil out of my nose

  6. Even the write up about the body work is bollocks, it's not clean, it's had rust repaired on one rear arch, it's got scuffs down both sides of the front bumper, the roof has been painted and masked badly it's got dents on the OSF wing (and probably other places, but I havnt washed it yet) it's had a sticker on the boot removed with a chisel, the bonnet has stone chips from top to bottom, and some strange lacquer problems.

If the paint is shit, just say 'age related marks to the paint' it's 20 years old for fucks sake

  7. As for the name and shame...

i'll just put it out there that if this is a user on here, i really dont care if i upset them. mis-selling a car that blatantly doesnt have the majority of modified parts fitted is not ok in my book, i can accept the bodges, the oil leaks, the unsafe rear seats, and can even accept the bent mot. i wouldnt have minded if it was just 1 or 2 parts that were lied about, but when its almost the whole spec list, its a bit different.

He obviously knows enough about starlets to know that listing a lot of these parts would be hard for most people to spot that they were not fitted, seems like he probably breaks starlets from his ebay itmes too.

seller user name on ebay is: ep91shak249 from Rhyl, North Wales

  8. Day three in the big brother house

gearbox (that was supposed to have been rebuilt 7000 miles ago) was filthy, so i got carried away with cleaning it

also pulled the turbo side off and found a nice big crack, so got the welder out and filled it up. not the neatest of welds, but its not the neatest manifold.

So my parts pile for the starlet is growing.

Also my stock of parts storage is getting out of hand.

As for where I stand with the mis-advertisement, I'm not too sure, because the guy I bought it off only had it for a week, the guy he bought it off was the person who listed all the parts not fitted, name and shame might come soon

  10. Ok, so I'm not really new, although I don't use the forum, but many of you already know me.

Been to the last 3 (ish) JAE with UKSO, been on stand at the last 2 Japfest2's all in different cars.

Current car, which was at the 2013 JAE and 2014 JAE for 2 hours on Sunday, was my manual single turbo Soarer, which is soon to be mapped and sold.

So I've been on the scene for a while, but finally decided to buy myself an EP82, I needed a car that was cheap to run, tax, maintain and repair. Most importantly, it needed to retain a fun factor, whilst still looking like a normal car and not too 'in your face'.

I don't have massive plans to go big like the soarer, would like to keep it simple, clean-ish (paint is pretty bad up close), and reliable

It already has some mods, some of them tasteful, some of them not.

    FMIC

    hybrid CT9

    HKS actuator

    HKS air filter relocation

    Crapspeed manifold

    Crapspeed decat

2.5" straight through exhaust with HKS back box (pipe fitted in back box for too many noises)

    Greddy FCD

    cooling panel

    yellow fogs

    bodykit stuff

some OEM bits that you will geek over like climate control

already made a good list of things to do, in no particular order:

    pull engine and gearbox out

    replace crank seal

    re-seal sump

painted rocker cover with new gaskets

clean engine bay of excess leaked oil

heli-coil slave cylinder threads on gearbox

    Remove fuel cut deffender

reduce boost from 1.0bar to 0.8 and adjust fuel pressure to suit

repaint fuel rail and strut brace

    fix flicky dash bulb

    I wish I hadn't have listed that...

Most of the parts are already ordered, engine and box should be coming out this weekend and hopefully going back in next weekend! Shorter the work takes until the car is finished, the happier I'll be.

I already pulled some of the crap out whilst cleaning the inside of the car, including china boost gauge. Also I would rather have no seats in the rear than unsafe seats, hence why they got pulled out straight away.

I might update this like once a year, so don't moan at me!

  11. Well my car still has no interior, doors, bonnet, boot, bumpers, lights or glass fitted. But the engine is together now bar a serpentine belt, and I still need to get the doors and bonnet painted. Also need tax and mot. I'll be there on time though!
