  1. I'm not in a massive hurry but would rather it was done right the first time, do you know how much it normally costs to get it at least skimmed? I've found a tutorial over on TGTT which is quite helpful so will be using that in conjunction with anything on here

  2. It's actually not a bad job to do mate!

Ensure you tension the camshaft when assembling. Ensure all timing marks are in appropriate places when assembling that's about it to be honest! Oh and take your time, there Is a lot of info on this site so you should be ok :)

Good luck and hope all goes well mate :)

Read this link when coming to do the tensioning of camshaft!

Cheers pal I shall use that advice! Do you recommend getting the head skimmed and tested for defaults?

  3. Sorry to hear bud wont take much to get it sorted though :)

I have headgasket but if my mechanic isn't able to fit me in I'm going to struggle, I've never open up and engine before and what to make sure it's right first time

  4. So ever since owning the car my interior light has never worked, the lights behind all the center column i.e the temp regulator

and dials never worked and the interior clock is almost non existence until i put my lights on, but it doesn't work anyway,

just resets the time to 01:00 everytime the car turns off. Now it's not any of the fuses, what else could it be, loom, loose connection?

    Any help would be appreciated

  5. So since owning my GT I've had a real problem with overheating, I've replaced the radiator, thermostat and the waterpump to cure it. Although it has done about 95% there is still a problem were it overheats, for example earlier I was on my way to mfn, I was boosting quite hard on high boost and i saw the gauge creep up so decided to pull over and check. The reservoir was almost full, as in literally almost coming out the top and it was still hot. Now all prior to this it was fine. No issues until then. so what could it be? ive been told the higher pressures are lifting up the headgasket, and letting air in. Is that the most viable prognosis or is it something trivial im missing like the flux capacitor is off or something stupid. any advice would be brill

  6. So haven't updated this properly in a while, other then a new radiator and new stat there are a few more things I've done. I will today be fitting a new water pump which I hope will fix the leak. Also removed exterior and interior air con components by the pump as the shorter belt is yet to arrive.

  7. Alright mate sorry for the random hijack of thread but your GT was the first ever starlet I went to see. I was going to purchase it but was to late and I'm assuming it was you that brought it? I saw it up for sale the other day but I see you changed your mind. Hope you aren't breaking it! Would be a real shame!

Good luck with sale of items!

    Cheers, Bret.

Hopefully if everything remains the same I can keep it, I was going to sell it but I came into a bit of money so as long as I can keep this money all should be going well!
