  2. What you need to end up with is a larger dia line as the feed from the tank to the engine, and a slightly smaller line as a return to the rear. In my case I swapped in a 2e-efi fuel tank and lines in each of the conversions Ive done so it was all pretty easy. However with a carby setup its slightly more difficult.

You have a few options really. Probably the best option is to just swap in an EP82 tank and lines - job done.

Another option but not the most ideal is to just fit an external fuel pump into the original carb feed line somewhere near the tank. The down side of this is that the factory tank (in a EP7* anyway, not sure about EP80) doesnt have an inbuilt surge baffle so at fuel levels from say 1/3 of a tank and lower you can risk all the fuel running to one side of the tank and the intake picking up air, not ideal on a turbo setup as the mixture will lean out with no fuel. You could setup a lift pump and then run a surge tank in the boot that a main EFI pump then draws from but its work you can probably avoid - you need to keep any setup you have in the boot sealed from the driver anyway due to fumes so you'd probably have to make an enclosure.

Another option is to modify the tank to have a surge baffle. Ive done this by dropping a piece of pipe down thru the cover the lines run thru and I sectioned the pipe with the slot horizontally along the surface where the pipe meets the bottom of the tank which allows fuel to flow in from the main tank chamber. I made some small brackets and fixed the pipe to the tank cover so the whole thing comes out. Was quite narrow though so doesn't hold much fuel. Also modified the pickup for the pump to hang inside the pipe inside the tank.

Hope that helps, just a few ideas for you.

Cheers dude, a lot of good information and given me a lot of help!

  3. Yeah have a search, 1e/2e carb are pretty much the same in terms of the conversion. Its well worth it, have done it many times over the years to both NA and turbo. Here's a 5efhe conversion in an old EP71 I had

    1.jpg

Have had a look and found and fair bit of info now, just one think i cant really find any definitive information on is what to do about the fuel pump, with the 1e having a mechanical one what should be used for the 4e? some sort of inline fuel pump?

  4. Currently have a ep80 with the carb'd 1e, was going to convert to efi 4efe but going to have to just swap the 1e for a 4e and keep it carb'd (more than likely), any idea as to what size main jet id need for the carb? and anyone know whats involved to put it on bikecarbs?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks Sam

  5. So basically my ep80 has a halfrad as standard which is handy for a civic rad replacement I had planned, however the distance between the two mounts is too big for a civic rad.

So I need a new bottom radiator mount so I can have one welded in the correct position.

Ive contacted toyota however the ep9 and ep8 bottom mounts are discontinued, does anyone have one spare in decent condition, or does anyone know anywhere I can get one, or does/can anyone make something that'll do the job?

    Thanks Sam

  6. So have managed to get a day off of Uni work and work work, to do some of the starlet.

Fitted an old steering wheel I had lying about as well as a Momo boss and D1 spec removable boss

Also fitted front GT turbo seats, do have the rear ones however not got round to fitting them as the

alternating weather. Had to fit the old seat belt clasps as the ep80 has some real fat buckles for some reason.

Also managed to fit the underseat tray from the ep80 seats to the GT turbo seats which is handy.

Car is currently on 98325miles (my benefit more than anything)

Also have some rear GT Turbo lights which I will fit when time and weather permits.

Also fitted some random other bits, wide angle rear view mirror as I cant live without one

A rather rudimentary cupholder for the vent

Car already has optional floor mats but have fitted the middle rear one to complete the set.

Wanted to fit a flare for JDM points yo and as it happens the original plastics already had the cutouts drawn on for the

flare holder so I just cut them out and fits nicely, even has the little ridge on the backside for the clips to secure too.

Hopefully will be getting a GT Turbo shell soon to start the EFI conversion, looking to get 120bhp as I plan on using a JDM spec ecu to bring standard 4e up to 100bhp with the relevant parts (injectors manifolds etc)

The car is super high and suffers from acute body roll (although somewhat less than my na ep91's) so will be in the market for something to fix that, might invest of some meisters on tick as well

  7. Possibly the rear brake shoes contain asbestos if they are original?

Do believe the asbestos is in the clutch friction plate.

Asbestos used to be in some gaskets and friction materials so clutch and brake pads or shoes. Its unlikely they are still fitted though I would think. Just don't go licking or sniffing them lol.

Cheers guys, will make sure I avoid munching on any of these bits!

I had one of these. Its in my profile pic :) lightest of the ep8 series. Not even soundproofing in them.

If you need the wiring doing give me a shout, I make them ;)

I was going to have the sound deadening out anyway so thats good!

And I may well call on your services then pal, will need an NA loom making for it compatible with a JDM spec ECU

  8. So after a little turn in my car direction, I am back with another starlet (no.7/8)

Still haven't got many pictures of it as Its currently parked at my mates, as I have no room on my driveway yet.

    Its a UK spec EP80, 1ltr carb'd

I have a few plans for it but firstly its getting rid of the small amount of rust on the rear arches and get an EFI 4e in there

Also, apparently my car has asbestos in it? Has anyone encountered asbestos in an ep80 before and if so, where is it? Id very much like to avoid playing with that stuff
