Ebay - it's not an actual TRD Item

speed cut is 112mph/180kph in Japan is it not? And my car has had a speed cut defender installed prior to buying it (have a 180mph speedo)...and not to condone speeding, as I greatly don't, but I've been higher than the Japanese speedcut
-
it's JAM as well, so would be 1Bar or thereabouts
-
well they have an external wastegate I believe, the internal wastegate of the CT9 is controlled by the Turbo Actuator - my JAM Actuator is made to produce 0.95Bar, using a stiffer spring to achieve this as well as some other refinements.
However, the car DOESN'T climb over that...I get boost cut even when in negative boost (vacuum) when cruising...it just irritates the Bejesus out of me
-
wastegate? Isn't it controlled by the Actuator? In which case I have a JAM Actuator
-
I have a Fuel Cut Controller (JAM) and can't afford a boost controller just yet but I want to fix the issue at hand rather than avoid it...as in why is it hitting Fuel Cut so often now, surely it isn't normal
-
Right, well with my boost gauge installed I can finally give general numbers. Now, For the last couple of weeks I've been having erratic fuel cut, and I mean all the time - warm weather, cold weather, anything in between. The worst thing is that I don't push the car or anything, fuel cut usually kicks in when I'm at a steady 70mph. Thing is, I'm not running into boost induced fuel cut as at 70mph in 5th the car's at -0.2Bar of boost (OEM Dumpvalve leaks boost unless on pressed throttle).
The Boost does rise quick though, shoots to near 0.9Bar when full boost is reached around 3000rpm. Now, what could be causing the erratic fuel cut? It just keeps on cutting in, steady 70mph, through the gears, and just now going up my hill in 2nd at 2000rpm...it's just annoying me to the point I'm just going to run a Standard actuator and no FCC...it's just too much of a confidence killer, I feel as if the car will just blow up.
Mind you, I did have the fuel rail/injectors off earlier this week trying to fit an intake manifold gasket (failed), reinstalled them and that seems to have started the issues (not sure if I was running into fuel cut as often beforehand....though when I did reinstall the fuel rail/injectors I did forget to tighten the fuel rail ground, and on a 60mph journey i hit fuel cut 30-40 times...). Let me know your thoughts, I've reset the ecu several times, and either my Diagnostic Port doesn't work, or there's nothing wrong as the ECU Light stays on

update updated

Anyway:
I've only connected the vacuum hose (Tee'd it off the MAP Sensor) as I do not value my electric knowledge...or lack thereof. But found the perfect position for it, right in the line of site....hole that I drilled is fugly but, meh
by the way, do I need to use this:
Waiting to receive my CT9b, SARD RRFPR, 7MGE Injectors, Walbro Fuel Pump (And once I finish paying for them - JAM ECU & JIC Magic Coilovers)...and hopefully do a rough dyno tune just to have everything hunkydory, so, watch this space
-
they take a bit of time to settle too if they're brande new
-
i miss you ecky-poo

Stroking my imaginary cat - Pablito
-
haha, conflicting arguements there
-
I beat a couple of Skyline's, Integra Type-r Etc...but then when I got to the Cork Screw it all went pear shaped and I got beaten...damn Laguna Seca and it's Cork Screw corner
And Marc, street racing is for idiots...if it's blunt, that's cause it needs to be.
-
If it's on the way, why not PM your address chap (can't be bothered searching for it )
-
finished weeks ago (not that I turned up to any lectures this term). Meh, not a meets person, and I may be going down to Canterbury this weekend anyway, still Kent, so my "Essence" will be near
-
I leave the country like 2 weeks beforehand, so, you'll have to wait till September
Nah, shall send it later this week. Oh, and I've just ordered my CT9b as well...hopefully will get that on soon
-
Brands Hatch is just 30 mi down the road from me (back at home)...how annoying is it that I can't afford to go Haha, just for that, I'm going to colour the rocker cover neon pink!
-
Its different in a good way
Looks cool and good luck with the track days im sure she is a bit of fun with that spec
Alas I have only done the trackday when the car was bone-stock, but I am to change that sharpish
Enzo, I know man, but I'm not one to take passengers really...after the summer, the rear passenger compartment shall be gone, I've taken out the rear seat right now and I like it Besides, all passengers do is complain...and that's with just 2.7kg & 2.28kg springs! As for your polyurethane bushes, I have no money as of right now, but if you're willing you could trade it for something I'm selling if you so wish? Or I could leave a deposit? Could you give me more details on it please like manufacturer, price, usage etc...
-
thank you all
- Enzo: Handling is not bad, you are right though, it is extremely grippy (considering how woeful it used to be), still rolls a bit but it just seemingly never runs out of grip, I need to go on a trackday to test it out as I haven't done in more than a year Realise the Buddyclubs will be stiff (especially the ones I'm getting...they have HKS 12kg/mm & 10kg/mm springs front & back!), and I don't have a rear Anti-Roll bar yet, but will do later on in the year...only thing missing suspension wise is uprated ARB's, Uprated Droplinks, Polyurethane front Control Arm bushes...and that's it, everything else has been added. Want to get the Cusco B-Pillar braces too at some point, and fiddle around with some other home-made braces and fill the chassis rails with polyurethane foam. Oh, and I'll be buying dry-ice soon to remove all the sounddeadening in the car
- Joz & Mikey: Thanks, and Joz, well, you'd know out of everyone the journey and pains of the car
- Ian: thanks again, and I will definitely not do a trackday before having the FMIC on - I have an FPR & Walbro Fuel Pump coming shortly, and I may get a short dyno session done to just set the fuelling for now.

May as well start the member's ride thread from Afresh to rid of all the clutter of the previous installations, but instead I shall also provide some sort of a history and the several dozen times the car broke down...

- June 2004 to December 2005 -
Well, just to give a bit of a backdrop, used to own a White 1997 Toyota Paseo Si, which I got bought about 2 weeks after passing my test in June 2004 (at the age of 17) and owned up until December 2005 when I bought the 1998 Cynos Beta (which you'll know, has a 5efhe as opposed to the 5efe of the Paseo). Below are pictures of the Paseo, and some Action shots too, a trackday at Curborough Sprint Track, and an Autotest:
Curborough Trackday & Heythrop Park Autotest: November 2005
-------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------
- April 2006 -
Well, after getting rid of that hideous, non-JDM (cause that's what really matters..../sarc) owning the Cynos Beta I've had my fair share of fun (Trackdays at Silverstone, Goodwood & Lydden Hill), and pure utter hatred for the car...
Complete engine rebuild - July to November 2006:
This was the result of a mixture of 3 trackdays...along with the fact that I drove the car for about 200mi with very little oil...burnt as a result of the trackdays perhaps?
During this period though, I continued driving the car though and on June 16th I had my first reunion with the man that I always trust my car with now. There he carried out the following:
Suspension Overhaul - June 16th 2006:
Got a Whiteline Anti-lift kit & Panhard Rod, RSR*R Springs/KYB SS Shocks/HKS Pillowball Mounts, Ultra Racing Fender Braces & SPATS Rear Strut Brace installed
-------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------
- November 2006 -
However, on getting the car back (engine rebuilt, and a CAP Paddle Clutch/Crankshaft Scraper & High Volume Oil Pump installed), to say I was disappointed was an understatement...true, I sent the car to a BMW Specialist to fix, but regardless, they managed to knick the Knock Sensor wire (as they had wired it completely wrong), which they failed to diagnose and I drove the car in a state of Timing Retardation for right about a month...till this happened...:
Sheared Knock Sensor Bolt - December 2006:
Oh well, good time to do this then:
-------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------
- December 2006 -
Yes, I got my grubby hands and attempted to fix the issue...by snapping the Knock Sensor bolt, which turned out to be a complete bodge. Off to the garage the car went...
Knock Sensor Repair & 5efhe work - December to January 2006:
Got the knock sensor issue resolved, as well as getting some items fitted, like an Oil Cooler, Crankshaft Scraper, lighter pulleys, TRD Lower Control Arm Bushes etc...I get the car in mid-January, and my word...it's an animal! Oh but no, we can't have me being happy for too long can we...3 days...yes, THREE days after getting the car back, I get Oil Pressure problems...the oil pressure was nonexistent till the Oil warmed up...by driving. Not a wise decision, and I did 300mi with the car in this condition, ignoring everyone's advice. Ah yes, paying for my own mistake on the side of a dual carriageway, when the heavy snow fell...and I was just wearing a t-shirt and jeans:
<Insert picture of my old Crankshaft with the Middle Main Bearing Welded onto the crankshaft...>

- February 2007 -
Off to the garage we go again...The guy I sent it to was busy until March (this occurred on the first week of February) so the car lay idle outside his garage until then. Oh, and yes, I lost a testicle from standing outside in the snow for about an hour waiting for my flatmates to rescue me.

- May 2007 -
So, deciding that some miserable "high-up" of some "heavenly" hierarchy thought it funny to curse the 5efhe, I had went along with what many people were telling me since the car was being gay a year earlier...and a 4efte found intself in my engine bay, fancy that?! In May 10th of this year, the car was once again mine and well, the difference just doesn't compare - I was reluctant for the transplant, but I can now see what the fuss is all about. I also had some Cusco Metal Rear Axle Arm Bushes, a Glanza Rear Axle, A/C Removed, JAM Actuator, SARD Thermostat and other things whilst the car was there.
Suffice to say, I have been almost trying to kill this thing (the bastard deserves it for causing me so much suffering), what, with running 1Bar, on a TMIC, and no hoodscoop...But it's still alive! To this day I haven't added much, beyond an HID Kit, Stripped a lot of weight (airbags, all interior trim) and some JIC Coilovers...
-------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------
History lesson over, on with the car: For a project to actually called so, you must have an objective...so mine in Leighman's terms is to have a relatively streetable track car. Things will start small, with getting the car upto Scratch, improving the engine's efficiency, and as money permits, experiment with the more suited suspension settings. For all the number mongers there, when I get hands on a K1-200v, my ideal "numbers" are of around 200bhp, and a weight as close to 800kg as I can manage. Power figures matter little to me, I want usable power which is why I'm going to stay with a CT9 related setup, for the relatively quick boost response available. Anyway, hope you enjoy the pictures and the continued progress of the car:
Some of the recent modifications:

Being a motorsports fanatic like myself (come on, every Italian thinks they're Schumacher), I'm quite a Trackday fairy...for the remainder of this year I'm hoping to go on quite a few and enjoy the car, seeing as in the last year I've barely driven 2000mi...Watch this space for the continual waste of money that'll ensue

madmangaz. comon you know the score lol
been a while dude, how have you been?
Stuck in Oxford doin' fluff all as I have no money...that and getting a 4efte in the Cynos (finally!), need to get down back to Surrey What abouts yourself, haven't seen you much around on TGTT?
Hey there Enzo, will get up pictures of the CYNOS (I'm pedantic ) Shortly, at least I'll start afresh on this site without the numerous updates isnce forever. Again, thanks for the welcomes, I'll take a picture of my mug, though why anyone would want to see a ceramic cup beats me

haha, I'm a bit of a shy one, don't like to put out
Haven't spoken to you in a while "Mad Manga" Thanks for the welcomes

I Salute you
Hello everyone, you may or may not recognise me from the other Starlet-ey/Paseo-ey forums, just decided to join up on here as well just to branch out a bit and another resource of information to add. I know a few of the people on here...as you all pretty much live on TGTT too
Anyway, ummm, yeah...for those that don't know me...Hello, my name is Enrico, I am Italian of Origin, nearly 21 of age and....I have a drinking problem *Awaits the awww's and hugs*. Oh, and I own a recently 4efte'd Toyota Cynos Beta, spankeechoos
Erratic Fuel Cut
in Ignition & Fueling
Posted
Unfortunately it isn't - I'll get an HKS one for my CT9b me thinks, do you reckon it'll sort the issues? When does the standard ECU run into Fuel Cut, 0.8Bar isn't it? As i'm selling my FCC
