  1. hi there guys, im thinking of getting the speedvision 270/280 cams for my starlet....but what I want to find out is if i can still run the airconditioning with them in. also in comparison to the 264 cams whats the power difference to the 270/280?

    thanks in advance\

    Mike

  2. managed to drive her on the way to the airport, one last ride I guess...but I will be back behind the wheel of her in December, plans to get another starlet over here, I just can't pick any other car! heart is set, 82 or 91... still in the process of what to get, decisions decisions :unknw: .

    Next on the list is:

    - Full bushings

    - LSD

    - Cams...hopefully 270+ degree

    - Suspension (tein or anything better than what I have now)

    - semi's for the back too

    - and hopefully a set of Enkei RPF1's

As a car nut the project will never end, perhaps I might just shove in a 3sgte and run full 4wd....who knows what the future will bring, I will continue to update when she has work done while I'm gone....But in my opinion, if you want to have an outrageous power to weight ratio and reliability. I would always choose a starlet. solid engines and they hide a massive amount of potential!

  3. last night in Malaysia I was out with my usual squad, night life is amazing there, speeding is a breeze with the lack of speed camera's haha. although the road quality is pretty ridiculous, you can easily find a few roads that allow you to throttle the shizel out of your car!

Squad goals! bittersweet moment for me...

  4. the car scene is growing here, lots of rare imports coming in with new laws allowing only a limited amount of Japanese cars to be brought in, but sadly you have to be a licensed dealer with the appropriate certification, never the less I was out on my birthday to a large meet where I saw a large amount of Jap Goodness!!!

car porn! haha, a lot of great cars out that night, loud exhausts, bov's and dumped out wastegates!

all lined up, starlet was surely the underdog in looks but I must say she really stunned a lot of guys that night....1 for the starlet boys :D

    line up of FD RX7's

summed my night with a great exit, was like something from a movie when leaving, but I love how she is on par with performance amoung higher capacity cars! lucky to be able to share my Malaysian car culture with all EP owners! they are truly under estimated Pocket Rockets!

  5. YDXJ0120_zpsoprclzfk.jpg

Cockpit view! Car ran great throughout...boost was at 1.5bar due to missing after 1.6. Decided to run lower because I wanted to drive her as much as possible with the little time I had left. Antilag was a lot of fun and the launch scares me to death! Definitely need a lsd, new bushings and better suspension!!

  6. Stripped out the boot and gave it a fresh lick of paint due to some rust spots

    took out all the trim

    12498533_1033341623395704_1130126786_n_z

was thinking of permanently removing the trim, was surprised with the weight of all this..but I fit it all back...streetcar I guess haha

    before I scrubbed down everything

Found hidden rust behind the rubber seal, so got the grinder out and got rid of it!

    Got her wet afterwards

  7. So I'm all the way in Kiwi Land right now, away from the Ep unfortunately but studies are more important! I got the car back late December last year and I did a few odd jobs to her before I came. Had a good few amazing gatherings so pictures below!

    12348389_1017888471607686_1875464418_n_z

A view of the bay! prior to going for the first test with semi's and 1.7bar of boost :yahoo:

    12468010_1033341456729054_382945533_n_zp

Took the car home about a week later after final tuning and I bought a few goodies to clean her all up!

    12468243_1033341360062397_766802930_n_zp

After some much needed TLC, was using the car as my daily for the time till I shifted over here, was the best feeling to drive her this much after 2 years of mishaps, but I can say it was worth the wait!! :D

  8. Haven't had much time to update the build....I'm all the way in New Zealand now, managed to drive her for a good month and did a few little odd jobs to clean her up abit! :D miss her badly :( but I do plan to get another ep in the next few months, fingers crossed

  9. Well done with the build dude. I can see plenty of blood, sweat, tears and money thrown into your effort. Been slowly doing up my GT as well here in KL but nowhere near your levels.

that's great to know someone else from Malaysia is here! set up a build, would love to see your gt man :D

  10. I absolutely love it bro........ 300+ whp from a TD05 5E is totally acheivable wen done right. & u did :yahoo:

Thats the aim i have for mine too .... Borg Warner GM-5 turbo, 5E, keepin my fingers crossed. Enjoy it until Feb.

Thanks man! i've finally got her home, will be back on the dyno next week as she is abit too rich haha....your car will be a beast with the borgwarner happy boosting!

  11. So i have a few updates....got a few parts bought!

    - set of proper seat rails

    - gt cooling panel

    - rear view mirror (no pic yet)

Car is still in the shop, but none the less she will be on the road very very soon!

    12348253_1015557825174084_2100962378_n_z

Not sure of the brands but I hope I can make them fit!

    12312377_1015557828507417_780765604_n_zp

cooling plate, all wrapped up...ill get a photo when I install it though

    12348381_1015557248507475_1825446172_n_z

So the brakes have been modded to fit the 15's back on, grinded down the caliper slightly to fit the rim on haha!

    12335891_1015557215174145_951566869_n_zp

She sits well on these rims...slightly lower than when I was using the 16 inch ones, but the tyres are much easier to find and hopefully ill get a set of toyo r888's next week :D

    12319535_1015557271840806_387406062_n_zp

Ati sitting in the driver's seat...great mechanic, certainly one of the best from over here

    12346718_1015557241840809_1757577372_n_z

Spotted this beauty outside! R32 GTR....freshly imported from Japan...owner must be really lucky! :cray:

Plans are to make her run...due to head over to New Zealand on feburary for a few years...I will certainly miss my starlet! ill come back once in awhile and hopefully have some parts to make her faster . I do intend to get a EP91 over there HOPEFULLY! then ill have another build to share haha....

Does anyone here know how to upload vids? I have quite a few that would be great to share with you all!

  12. 5e block? Are the cams timed to the 5e mark? Retarding the cams slightly by timing them to the 4e mark shifted my powerband very nicely, (fhe cams in an n/a build)

yup its a 5e block and the timing I'm not sure about, ill check tomorrow when I see the car, but thanks for your help man! I'm using the stock 4efte cams atm, but I have been offered a set of 5efhe ones haha...

  13. sorry guys i meant to type 5E haha, the cars was on the dyno last week and here is the results :yahoo:

I haven't got the car back yet as there is a few more little bits to do, so hopefully next week I can take her out to try with some friends!

    12231531_1007238412672692_1411149198_n_z

    this was pre dyno

    12272670_1010828535647013_1740567332_n_z

So my dad and a few friends came to see the final results....after almost 2 years of blood, sweat, tons of headbutting she was finally on the Rollers.....all that has happened pre to this stage was gone. Gp Racing did an amazing job over here, and I'm glad I went to them in the end or my engine would of stuffed up without a doubt!

    12285813_1010828958980304_2030822448_n_z

she developed a miss at high rpms, but was found out to be the coil....so swiched it out and she ran smooth as butter! this was at 1.2 ish bar

    12282918_1010828528980347_1591237297_n_z

so we pushed up the boost up to 1.5 and she reached the near 300whp :D

    12277236_1010828442313689_1780775865_n_z

got home and then my friend Ati messaged me with this....1.8 bar and running more power than I had ever thought....326.5whp, 39kg's of torque...unfortunately the powerband drops at 6500 rpms...I assume its the cams that are letting up...I was planning on getting some 5efhe cams as they have slightly better lift...any comments and thoughts are welcome as I am improving her along the way....all in all I'm extremely pleased with the result and new rebuild even though its only been 1,000 + km's since the last one :bad:.

I'd love to share my vids but I'm not sure as to how you download them, some help from you guys would be great  . I'll get more updates next week as we might possibly try 2.0bar haha....tyres are total shit, but they smoke pretty well

  14. so alot has hapened since my last post, turned out that the old place stuffed up my piston clearence causing all mayhem inside the engine everything has been taken out and I have took back out the whole engine, everything has been rebuilt from top to bottom just after a year

    D5170B35-9D9F-4E4A-ABED-E154F9B957CA_zps

the scorn piston, after further inspection the piston rings cracked....

Unfortunately I don't have much pictures of the rebuild, but I am running the 4e again with forged internals and the td05.......

I'm using a 2.0mm gasket, increace the compression slightly haha

    IMG_7004_zpsyj3ebhrc.jpg

changed the colour of the valve cover aswell, going to try and make everything black now

  15. well this weeks update isnt as what I thought, bittersweet actually....alot of smoke was puffing out the exhaust and after final inspection it was the valve stem seals

Lads at GP are going to uprate the springs and properly port and polish the head

    IMG_6833_zps53sfqeyw.jpg

Prior to the head being removed I switched to ej20 Subaru coils, dizzy cap was removed and a custom cap was made as a cover to tidy everything up!

    IMG_6834_zpsjgt8ir3z.jpg

    looks clean!

    IMG_6835_zpsukuu2npa.jpg

Apexi airfilter was also put in place

    then all this happened :clapping:

    IMG_6939_zpstmopdkms.jpg

Pretty devastating, but looking into the bright side I can properly have the top end fixed :unknw:. All because of cheap valve seals used previously haha

    IMG_6948_zpsc7fc5dca.jpg

Pretty clear seeing the oil on the pistons caused by the oil leaking through the seals down the valves....head was off in a matter of minutes and should be back together this week . New gasket on the way from my friend Elton so compression will be lowered to push abit more boost in :yahoo:

  16. few updates!

Changed my intercooler to a blitz one...now the piping has a more direct route from the compressor to intercooler . also got the new bov in place! the lads down here painted the piping nicely!

ill clean the intercooler out when the car is home, here's hoping for boost this month! :D

  17. went to see the car today, management almost fully installed and the intake was taken out to fix the throttle cable bracket. If all is well she should be on the dyno next week :yahoo: . vids will come and Ill post up the dyno sheet, 250 on wheel would be good (fingers crossed!) a big thanks to the lads at GP!

This will be a ton of fun! The Adaptronic E420D has launch control, 2 maps, anti lag, what I do like is the software its really user friendly, but I wont be doing the tuning, Ill leave it up to the pro's for that!

Any other Members using this computer in their starlets?

    IMG_6604_zpslij1cnnw.jpg

saw this aswell! doing some work on the hoist

    IMG_6603_zpsqnyeibfx.jpg

running a 4age, the engine bay is pretty clean, all the wires tucked away nicely.
