  1. Update! Yay! Been awhile!

So things have been picking up with mods.

First I wanted something different for the horn and my brother had these laying around so got them off him (by the way its been modded so all ports fire at once so its single tone) also you may wonder three horns, four ports? two of the ports have a joiner that then lead to the biggest horn.

Didn't have to make any brackets just used holes already there. pump mounted the chassis leg where was already threaded holes but had to do the trick of puting to nuts together so I could tighten it to the body properly.

Fitting my boss, snap off boss and steering wheel. I took out the late spec unit and put in my early spec unit from my second starlet as its way better (First starlet was late spec and the unit broke when I fitted a boss).

Horn wiring just swap it from plug with one wire into the other plug on the top left.

So you can see how I made the horn work still with the standard wiring loom. All fitted:

Had to get my tracking done as it was majorly out! Wasn't even on the gauges when they started. Took it to a garage my brother use to work at and only cost £10 for half an hour to do the tracking. Car sits 300mm from centre of the wheel to the top of the arch all round :yahoo:

  2. Think I have an old badminton set somewhere  dunno where might have to look for it. I know quite a few card games, some are more fun than others especially donkey (or known as spoons) it can get a bit violent though  me and mum gave my brother a black eye before

  4. Inlet manifold find a corolla tubular inlet manifold. Any filter will need a cold feed of air or theres no point in it. Exhaust, harder as OBX manifolds made for the 5efe are rare to come across. I think some 5efes have 4-2-1 standard but there still cast and hard to find. Also try and make the exhaust free flowing but don't go big diameter, I have 3 straight through Jetex silencers and the standard straight through resonator box. Look into ignition timing and adjusting it for what you want may give some good results. Bit more work on but bigger throttle body will have torque gains in the lower RPM's from my experience so far.

Could go down the root of finding all the first gen ecu and stuff to make it 100hp that some of the early jap models were. Go all out and get stand alone ecu, throttle bodies, tubular manifold etc.

  5. So little update:

Random photo I took at my clubs monthly meet before the start of it

Also got myself so new number plates 12x6 :p ANPR camera at work for the gate don't like them but oh well I'll deal with that. Handy the plates came with a packaged with a film that I useed to mock the holes for the mounting to which I measured the front on to fit on my na/glanza mix bumper to which the bolt holes are the same on the na bumper ftw!

I also noticed on of my welds on the rear box wasn't as good weld as I thought and had snapped off caused it to be able to move around alot. So re welded strengthened and tided it up. used the bits I cut off to strengthen the mounts. Not the best welding I have done but we had run out of normal wire for the welder so had a crappy stainless steel wire which I found not to weld as well :/

Rain stopped play so had to wait for it to stop. I threw everything under the car or in the garage but I left my hoodie out in the rain so that got soaked!

    13221022_10154208523009204_5650133944455

But I got it bolted back on and now it barely moves and wobbles the car the car without banging on anything :D

Also the little starlet came to the rescue the other night, managed to tow it enough to bump start it as it had a flat battery!

  6. Right better do a proper update! Finally have time to do this now I this now after doing my club stuff with our monthly meet being Sunday!

    Before Japfest (prep basically):

So no picture but adjusted the rear wheeling bearings as one had a little play but now there all good!

So my strut brace I had sand blasted and I had primered it, I wanted it on for Japfest so I finished spraying it.

Even though I took it abit easy on braking I still pushed it in the corners

Then this weekend I had a spare motorized headlight adjuster which I fitted to adjust the headlight properly as mine was broken. Thing I have worked out is that there are two adjustments you can make the to the headlight the one on the top (white bit top left of picture below) adjusts the horizontal pattern of the light and the motorized adjuster (the bit with the rust bolt head, the one that adjusts) has a bolt on the back of it to adjust the height of the beam  When ever I looked people always just said the screw on the back of the headlight so may look into making a proper guide to tell people.

And also cleaned my engine bay and fitted my magncor ht leads I have.

    13100945_10154182555094204_3235948682560

Did have a slight issue later on as I discovered that water had got into the second spark plug hole and was causing a horrible miss fire. so at first I thought the dizzy was wet took it off no water inside but cleaned the contacts and rotor arm put it back on. Ended up with a micro fibre being pushed in with a screw driver got the water out than ran like a dream and even felt a bit better pulling while driving around!

  7. Another question if I skim head and skim block and have fhe cams wat thickness head gasket will I get away with. Will the 0.5 be too thin? Will I have to use standard thickness round 1.3?

I dont know to be honest, I would say get it all measured up so how much the piston sits out the block then measure how deep the recess in the head where the piston goes and see how much clearance you have. Measure it standard then work out what gasket you are going to use and calculate how much you can safely skim off the head. I have never done this my self but if your going to look into it doing speak with a professional or someone whos done it a few times. But remember the more you skim off the higher compression. Go to high may lead to having to use fuels that aren't available at petrol stations or even worse the engine wont run at all. Go/find someone to speak with whos built a couple of high compression engines. More the experience the better I say
  8. i know this has been covered fifty million times I've read through them all. . but had anyone still actually put together something decent in an n/a 4efe? before anyone says turbo it i cant im putting one together for a form of rally here and highest i can go is 1.3 so cant put in the 5E or turbo it.

i have a jap spec 4E , have 5efhe cams have 4efte lightweight flywheel, corolla inlet manifold and 50mm throttle body and an exhaust manifold. so besides get a map on it is there much else to add??

    thanx

emissions or anything like that not issue it wont be tested

Port and polish the head? Skim the head for higher compression? I believe a few of the corollas came with a 4-2-1 or even the 5efe? Put it on throttle bodies and get a decent map? Also on the flange of the corolla inlet manifold have you made it bigger to match the throttle body as I know the one I built up with a 50mm throttle body the flange hole was 45mm so I welded along the outside of the flange and ground out the hole to match the throttle body. Still waiting to get it on the car lol.

  9. Yea that'd be sweet man, be nice to get some NA figures as I haven't seen as many as glanzas and GTs

If you look on the leader board you can see my old SR that made 86.1HP 126NM torque which was just a corolla mani with a mr2 throttle which the manifold was made to fit. Missed fueled, all over the place but had peak torque at 2300 RPM so was nice a grunt in the lower revs
